Five years have already gone by...I think of you often, with both gratitude and love, or when I´ve discovered an author that I feel you´d have enjoyed. Knowing you, you likely read everything they published! I just remember you; all the funny memories, your excepting heart, your kindness and strength, and when you laughed big! Or how your eyes teared up when something touched your heart. There are so many memories I didn´t realize had stuck. I know I´m not the only one. I love you and wish I could give you a big hug and talk about life with you.

Doug was an incredible human. He gave wonderful advice, told hilarious stories and wrote beautiful poetry. He made you feel safe and important, and most of all, he made you feel so loved. He would give the warmest hugs, then hold you back and just look at you...I mean REALLY look at you, with tears in his eyes because his heart was just so full. There's so much more I could say about him...the world needed him and needs more people like him. God bless your next journey, Doug. I love you. Thank you for opening your heart to me, always.

My sincere condolences to Doug's family and friends. I wish for you peace during this difficult time.
Thank you Doug for being as loving and kind to me as you were fierce and unyielding in fighting for those who struggled to fight for themselves. I love very much back!
