Doug Logue Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Oct. 5, 2016.
Douglas A. Logue Doug Logue, 86, passed away September 20, 2016 surrounded by family. He was born February 19, 1930 in Snohomish, WA, the oldest son of Stanley and Stella (James) Logue. Doug graduated from Astoria High School and went on to Willamette University where he played basketball. His 1952 team was inducted into the Willamette Athletic Hall of Fame in 2000. Doug was also individually inducted into the athletic halls of fame at both Willamette and Astoria High. Doug left college in 1952 to serve in the U.S. Army during the Korean War. After returning, he met the love of his life, Patricia (Patt) Blakely. They were married December 31, 1955. Doug received his BA from Willamette University in 1957. Immediately after graduating, Doug went to work for State Farm Insurance and worked for them for over 35 years. In 1960, Doug and Patt moved from Salem, OR to Lacey, Washington where they raised their five children. After retiring from State Farm in 1992, he and Patt spent time traveling, particularly enjoying their annual trip to Maui. Doug enjoyed fishing and woodworking. He also enjoyed cheering on his kids and grandkids - freely giving them advice and counsel on how to shoot the perfect lay in or make a free throw with their eyes closed. Doug is survived by his wife, Patt; his children, John, Nancy, Dean (Carolyn), Daryl and Cory (Lynn); his grandchildren, Alison, Melanie, Kenny, Matt, Shaye, and Shawn (Ashley); and his great-grandchildren, Abby, Kinsley and Kaydin. He was preceded in death by his parents and his siblings, Howard and Carol. A Celebration of Life will be held for Doug in the Expo Hall, Thurston County Fairgrounds, Saturday, October 15 at 2:00 p.m.

One of the great people you meet in life. So lucky to have known Doug for so many years. Unknown to many, Doug also entered politics and was unanimously elected the Mayor of Napili Kai Beach Resort, a position that he held for many years. He served in that position with the greatest of dignity and his never ending wit and charm.

Condolences to Mrs. Logue, John, Nancy, Dean, Daryl and Corey.

I remember fishing with Doug and Ed Clancy on opening day of Black River with my Dad and when he would come in to the service station.

Condolences to the Logue family. I remember whenever I visited my high school friend Dean, I was always impressed with the warmth Doug and Patt filled in their home and how comfortable "Mr. Logue" would make me feel.
