I didn't get to work with Doug direct so much but always loved talking with him as we passed in the halls in Chester.
Always had a smile and made me smile.....

Doug was a warm-hearted man with a strong spirit. His presence will continue to live on through his beautiful daughter, Koury. I know there are no words that can take away the pain of your great loss but please know you are not alone. Praying that God gives you peace and surrounds you with all the love and support you need during the days ahead.

I considered Doug a very dear friend and confidant. His passing reminds me life is so precious and how one life well lived can touch and enrich the lives of so many. As much as he was admired among his colleagues as the consummate professional, even more so, he will be remembered and revered as a true gentleman and a warm, compassionate human being. In the most difficult and challenging times, Doug was the guy you wanted with you in the foxhole, always that calming voice of reason guided by integrity, grounded in principle, and cultivated over many years of experience. Under Doug's strong, steady exterior, beat the heart of a proud and fierce competitor and team player, doubtlessly instilled from youth and culminating on the football field in Charlottesville with his beloved Wahoos. Count me among the many whose life was blessed by knowing and working along side with him. Rest in peace good buddy.

My sincere condolences to the family. Doug was a fantastic person and an awesome conversationalist. He was one of my first friends at VITA when I started there 3 years ago. I miss our talks.

My sincerest condolences to Khoury and the rest of the Wilson family. I worked with Doug for most of the 28 years that he was with VITA/NG and he was truly a Blessing. I cannot count the number of times he has provided vital information to me on one issue or another. We always joked about which one of us would get to retire first since we both had one of the longest "tenures" with VITA but I never imagined it would end this way. He will be truly missed.

I am so sorry for your great loss. May the God who "binds up the brokenhearted" and "comforts all who mourn" (Isaiah 61:1, 2) sustain your family during this challenging time. Please accept my heartfelt sympathy

I just spoke with Doug a month or so ago and was so glad to see him. I had no idea that he would be gone so soon. I enjoyed working with Doug as both an NG and VITA employee. He was always so pleasant and professional. I'm sorry for the family's loss.

Doug was a tackle, I was a back--but we were best friends. It didn't start out so well--our schools were segregated until 8th grade, so that's when I met him--in football practice, where, if we messed up, we had to tackle Doug, one-on-one--and he was already a man-child. He went on to become all-district offense and defense at Lord Botetourt.
So many nights after practice, sitting in the Firebird in his driveway, listening to Hendrix, discussing life and girls, griping about football, working on mysteries without any clues--except for what we could figure out between us. We got together last summer for the first time in 20 years, since life took us to different parts of the country - but it was like old times. Man, I will miss that man. Peace to his daughter who he loved so much--and to his family, who treated me like family.
