Dr. Young delivered my brother and I in the 1970´s. My mother loved him. He was her Dr for many years. I had the pleasure of being his patient briefly in the 1990´s. He performed surgery on me. He was wonderful. Such a caring Dr. He will be missed. What a wonderful human. He lived a full life and left such a positive mark on this world!

I had the distinct pleasure of providing anesthesia for Dr Young for over 32 years. And, having been an anesthetist who has done nearly 85,000 cases, can without question brand Dr Young the finest surgical technician I had the pleasure of working with.

I am sorry to hear of Dr. Young's passing. He delivered my first child in 1981. He listened to me when I had a spinal headache when no one else at the hospital believed me. I still remember him looking at me with compassion and immediately send someone in that evening to take care of it with a blood patch. He was my hero from that day forward. Unfortunately he retired before he could deliver my other two.

Dr. Young was one of my childhood mentors and occasional sailing buddy. We raced together when I was a young teenager on his race boat on Percy Priest Lake as well as on the cruiser on Lake Wheeler. We also sang together in the Murfreesboro Choral Society.

He was one of the reasons why I chose a career as a naval officer. (well as my inspiration for a purchase of an old Porsche many years later!)

Now that I am retired from the Navy and in my second career, my wife and I are actively planning to follow his path on the North American Great loop in our own boat in a couple of years.

I was fortunate to win an auction item from the disposition of his household effects, and have displayed in a prominent spot his oil lamp anchor light and a vintage taffrail log spinner, a device used for keeping track of miles sailed for deduced reckoning in an offshore sail boat’s passage. This tool was critical in the days of celestial navigation that preceded GPS. I am a master navigator now, and am proficient in the use of my sextant. Having these pieces of Dr. Young’s sailing life in my home still brings me great joy.

He will be sorely missed, and I am grateful for all that he taught me, and for his lasting contributions to my home town.

Bud Young was my doctor, and friend. I appreciate his contributions to this community both in the Choral Society and its support, and his caring service in the Hope Clinic.

Dr. Young delivered my twin daughters on Thanksgiving Day, 1969, my third daughter on August 12, 1972 and was my OB/GYN from 1969-1994. I will miss hearing his voice in the Choral Society and in choir.

Please know how sorry we are to learn of Dr. Young’s passing.
We first met him when we joined FBC Mboro in 2006 and became members of the
Discovery Class. His thoughtful contributions to our discussions were always appreciated. Our lives are richer for having known him.

I am so sorry for your loss. He was my Doctor as well as my friend. I started going to him when I was eighteen in 1963, and continued until he retired. He was a wonderful person that will never be forgotten. You are in my thoughts and prayers
