Dear betty, I wanted to find you and bob and went to google where I sadly discovered that your wonderful handsome husband has passed. I was fondly speaking of you to my sister and recalled our duplicate bridge games from ft. Leonard wood Missouri. I am so sorry about your losing your husband. My heart goes out to you. I am hoping you find my sincere condolences , though a bit belated, and would love to speak with you. You are always in my most warm and fond memories of the very special person you were then and I'm certain you are so many years later. Linda Pitegoff Meyerson

Dr. Lockhart is on my mind today. He was more like the Grandfather I didn't have as a teen into adulthood as mine passed away when I was very young. Our conversations were always interesting as they took place primarily while he was fixing my teeth (frequently)! I'll never forget his gentle demeanor and his encouragement to me and my family. At his service last year, I heard the impact he had on so many people. He left an amazing legacy and it inspires me to lead a life that will do the same. To so many of his patients, he was so much more than a dentist.

When I smile for pictures, I often think of him. He used to tell me he wanted me to have a "Hollywood smile." Thanks to him and Dr. III and staff, I'd like to think I have a smile he was proud of.

God bless, Dr. Lockhart. We miss you!

He as a good and intelligent man whom I'd hoped to share mutual interests and analysis with for many years to come.

May the Lord comfort and watch over His most wonderful family until we are one day reunited.

To Mother Betty Lockhart, Robert III, Christopher, Lisa, and your whole family:

I love you all, praying for you, and me and my family send condolences to you. May GOD's PEACE, GOD's COMFORT, GOD's STRENGTH & GOD's Unconditional LOVE shower you, all. Stay connected to GOD & one another. God is with you, all.

I met Dr. Robert W. Lockhart, Jr., at Whataburger on Old Spanish Trail and Calhoun in October 1982. He order a Medium Diet Coke. And then stood there watching me at the cash register. He leaned over, gave me his business card, and said, "IF YOU EVER NEED A JOB, CALL ME!" That day GOD used Doc Jr. (DAD) to CHANGE my life forever. I called, asked for him, he was busy, so I HUNG UP... few days later he sent his Office Manager, Mary, to Whataburger to ask if I had called and I said, "Yes!" She set up my interview that week with DOC Jr on November 15, 1982.

On November 17, 1982, two days later, Doc Jr., hired me as his Dental Assistant, then asked me to go to school, as he had asked others to do, & be his Registered Dental Hygienist, so I went. I graduated May 1987 as a RDH. Then later I returned as both Dr. Robert Lockhart Jr & Dr. Robert Lockhart III's Office Manager.

You, DOC DAD, was one of the ones God used to teach me about LIFE, FAMILY, LOVE, FORGIVENESS & OVERCOMING all OBSTACLES in MY LIFE!

DOC DAD, always wanted me to better myself, expecially in GRAMMAR, because he said, "Evon, one day, you will speak to thousands of people and your GRAMMAR needs to be imporved and on point!" He was right! I am a pastor, the Boykins Youth Foundations, Inc. Administrator, A General Manager for three minor league men's football team, president of a youth boys football team and cheerleading squads, a motivational speaker and in my ninth educational program & currently pursuing a Master in Divinity (M. Div.).

All because DOC DAD, said one day, "I didn't belong in Whataburger, GOD has more for me to do, get ALL the EDUCATION you can get Evon, you are SMART and you can do it, I believe in YOU!" He did and I am doing all he said to me 33 years ago!

THANK YOU, DOC DAD, for always being there for me! All the long conversations, laughs and tears of JOY and sometimes SORROWS!THANK YOU, DOC DAD, for always being proud of everything I did and my son, Christopher Boykins.

Thank you for allowing me to hold your hands, at our LAST VISIT, and let me pray for you, your wife and family, as we both cried several months ago in your home driveway, and you said to me with TEARS in your eyes, "If I have to go, Evon, I have lived a GOOD LIFE!"

Then I said to YOU, I have too, DOC, I feel the same way being sick these past 9 years, but GOD HAS THE FINAL SAY and not us, so we will LIVE LIFE to the FULLIEST" and we laugh as tears flowed!

Then, later you called me and said, "Evon, I AM GOING BACK TO WORK NEXT MONTH!" Thanks for always TEXTING me,too, (I TAUGHT YOU TO TEXT). I appreciate you texting me when you was in MEXICO and on your way to CALIFORNIA!

Thank you for loving me, even when I struggled to love myself. Thank you for including me in your Dental Family and your own family. Thank you, Doc Dad!I love and miss you sooooo much.

God blessed me with Doc Jr. and meeting HIM, I was blessed with the whole LOCKHART family. My whole Boykins family is praying and sends their love.

Love your daughter from other parents,
Pastor Evon M. Boykins (R.D.H.)

I first met Robert when we were pre-dental majors at UT/Austin. We were often in the same classes, and sat next to each other as a function of alphabetical order.

Fortunately, we entered dental school together, and again shared a lab because of our last names. Robert and I used each other to practice several dental procedures for the first time. I trusted him, and he in turn trusted me.

He was always willing to help his classmates in any way, and has been a lifelong friend to me. Working so closely with Robert over the years was a true blessing, and through our mutual respect, he opened my eyes to racial injustice and tolerance toward our fellow man. I am a better person for knowing Dr. Lockhart. Rest in peace, 'ol buddy.

Dr. Lockhart's passing leaves a very large hole in the lives of many people. He was a wonderful mentor to our daughter, Amy, and his guidance and friendship made him a major guiding light in her life. We enjoyed our softball years in his company. God bless Betty, Robert, Chris, and Lisa and all who loved him.

God bless you, Lockhart family. We are indeed saddened by the loss of such a dear family friend. I always brag about and cherish the memory of he, my dad, and other men in the neighborhood getting together to watch Monday Night Football at each others' homes. I also fondly remember the New Year's parties and listening to great sounds on his awesome sound system. We will certainly miss you, Dr. Lockhart.

Robert (and his wife Betty) was the type friend who you could always call friend whether you saw him everyday or just once in awhile. He had a wonderful gentle spirit and kind heart that delivered only the best he could offer. I will deeply cherish my visit with Robert and Betty during this past Holiday Season of 2014. I had not seen them for several years...always knew they were doing okay...but there is nothing like spending time with people you care about and just having good o'conversation with. I will miss Robert, but will continue to nourish my friendship with his wife and family. May God's blessings be with you and your family. May your soul rest in peace.

I send my condolences to my extended family the Lockhart's. Doc was a great mentor and friend whom I will never forget. He and I always had great conversations about life and he would always give you an honest answer and motivation that anything was achievable through hardwork. He called me Mississippi Mud and I called him James Brown. I always tell Rob how blessed he was to have a dad like him that was so caring and easy to talk to. You all stay strong because you all are in our prayers.
