I first met Duane as the experienced JDCF volunteer who was named to accompany him on his first easement monitoring adventure, and we often met at subsequent meetings. I and my wife Frances often met Duane and Marjorie at many other JDCF functions. Duane was one of the most warm, calm, and open people I knew - a truly decent person who gave back to those around him.
