Earl G. White, Jr.

ELIZABETH CITY - Earl Grover White, Sr., 90 of 528 Crooked Run Road, Elizabeth City, NC died Wednesday, October 18, 2017 at Sentara Albemarle Medical Center. He was born October 1, 1927 in Pasquotank County to the late Grover Cleveland White and Lucy Temple White and was the husband of Audrey Dail White of the residence for sixty-seven years. He was Salutatorian of his Central High School Class, a retired mail carrier after forty-three years of service, Past Vice President of Albemarle District 2 of NC Rural Letter Carriers Association, a sixty-seven-year member of the National Rural Letter Carriers Association, a certified barber, and a Veteran of the U.S. Army having served in WWII.

In addition to his wife he is survived by two daughters, Pamela White and fiance; John Allen of Elizabeth City, NC and Earline Dwarkanath and husband Amar of Chesapeake, VA; a son, Earl "Buddy" White, Jr. and wife Bobbie of South Mills, NC; special friend and niece, Sybil Sowerby; and a host of nieces and nephews. He was pre-deceased by a daughter, Patricia Ann White; two sisters, Hazel Berry and Emily Soth; and three brothers, Joe White, Leon White, and Lem White.

Funeral services will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at Twiford Memorial Chapel with the Rev. Ken Littleton officiating. Entombment will follow in West Lawn Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. at the funeral home and at other times at the residence. Memorial donations may be made to the American Heart Association, RDU Center Drive, Suite 100, Morrisville, NC 27560 or the Alzheimers' Foundation, PO Box 1254, Elizabeth City, NC 27906.
