The Bridge Builder

An old man, going a lone highway,
Came at the evening, cold and gray,
To chasm, vast and deep and wide,
Through which was flowing a sullen tide.
The old man crossed in the twilight dim;
The sullen stream had no fears for him;
But he turned when safe on the other side
And built a bridge to span the tide.
"Old man," said a fellow pilgrim near,
"You are wasting strength with building here;
Your journey will end with the ending day;
You never again must pass this way;
You have crossed the chasm, deep and wide --
Why build you the bridge at the eventide?"
The builder lifted his old gray head:
"Good friend, in the path I have come," he said,
"There followeth after me today
a youth whose feet must pass this way.
This chasm that has been naught to me
to that fair-haired youth may a pit-fall be,
He, too, must cross in the twilight dim;
Good friend, I am building the bridge for him......Will Allen Dromgoole

Ty and Twyjuana, I will continue to keep you and the rest of the family in prayer. I miss Mother, but I smile everytime I think of her. I can see her standing at the sink eating a sandwich; pacing back and forth asking me about Kam or work or something. I can still see her pushing her glasses up on her nose, something I do alot as well. (lol) Those memories we all have, individually and collectively, will help us all get through this sad time. Remember to be absent from the body is to be present with the Lord! I know that we will see Mother again. Luv you cousins. look toward the hills from whence cometh your help. (psalms 121)

Earnestine allowed my daughter Heather and I to share her spacious home while we looked for a residence when we were new to Rockford. She was so very generous and hospitable to us strangers. Always she will remain dear to my daughter and me. It was definitely a privilege to know her.

To the family of my dear friend "Earnestine" such a lady to know her was to love her. She will be missed and thought of in so many ways , her creations in the plays of the Black theater ensemble were awesome , her words of encouragement to continue education and strive to be the best was so evident in her walk through her life and even in days of her illness she showed how no matter what our challenges might be our faith and trust in God keeps us going non stop.Some people in our lives we forget and need to forget and than there are those who forever leave a lasting impression and we never forget and my friend " Stine" will be just that. God has a special place and work to be done so one morning he looked down and touched that special one for the job . My deepest sympathy and condoles.
