Edgar "Eddy" Layhew, Jr. Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 9, 2025.
Edgar "Eddy" Ervin Layhew Jr., 65, passed away on August 1, 2025, in Old Hickory, Tennessee.

Eddy is survived by his wife of 43 years, Marina (Rena) Layhew; his son, Josh (Mary Beth) Layhew; his daughter, Ashley (Richard) White; and two cherished granddaughters, Ellie and Eden Layhew. He also leaves behind his sister Dottie Hale. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edgar Layhew Sr. and Katherine (Hale) Layhew, and his sister Deborah (Bobby) Collins.

Born on November 13, 1959, he was a man of quiet strength. He dedicated over three decades of his life to Sanders Manufacturing Company, working there from 1978 until 2016. He continued his career at Metal Molding from 2016 until his passing, embodying an unwavering work ethic that defined him. Eddy was known for his humble spirit and quick wit. He adored both his mother and God deeply, and instilled strong principles in his children through word and example. He was happiest hearing the roar of NASCAR engines, and when the Vols were on a winning streak. He loved dogs, and they brought out the playful side of him.

A memorial service will be held at the Freewill Baptist Church in Madison, TN on Saturday, August 16, 2025 from 1:00-3:00 p.m. To best honor Eddy, come dressed as you are. In lieu of flowers, please share a memory.
