Edith will forever leave a thumbprint on my heart. She supported me, for the past 28 years, through every twist and turn life had to offer. Edith taught me the value of a dollar and how to turn trash into treasure. If there is such thing as being a certified garage seller, I would have earned my certificate from Edith. Edith was the ultimate homemaker who taught me how to use a comal, to make the best rice and how to iron. She always made sure her girls and me had the prettiest hair bows, the biggest homecoming mums and the cutest clothes. I learned how to care for a child by watching Edith as a young girl. I even picked up a little Spanish along the way! I am thankful that she opened up her home to me like I was family. I am blessed that I was able to enjoy Edith's spirit, life and love. Her light will shine forever in my heart.

You know many people say how crazy it is that I am so close to such extended family. I Think I am extremely blessed, that God gave me such a gift of knowing my Beautiful Tia Edith and her family. Growing up along side her beautiful daughters has been a true gift in my life. Tia always treated me with such love and kindness, and if she could she was always there celebrating life with all the family. I will always rember her beautiful smile and her big hugs.I pray that one day when it is my time to go, that God will surround me in so much love as she has had in her life. To my cousins and my loving Tio, I will always be here for you guys. I know I'm in Seattle, but you will ALWAYS BE MY FAMILY. God bless you always.

On March 9, 2016, i went to a funeral of a dear friend. Sister Edith, i will always remember her for so many things....she taught me how to find great deals, some couponing tricks, which i failed miserably, we spoke about the Lord, scriptures, she was one of my main supporters when i was the women's ministry leaders, she never judged me. She taught me and trusted me with her homeade stuffing/dressing recipe, which my husband, daughter, boys and a few others can appreciate. Not alot of people were given that blessing, but she new i would make it and bless, who i can with it. I could honestly say i will never forget her. I might not have seen her much, but always thought of her and her daughter's, Vanessa Alva, Laura Ann, and Jessica. By the way, the pastor did a great job for Sister Edith. The pastor left me with this on my mind. What would they say about you when you pass away?.....Makes you think???? Sister Edith was a great, caring, strong, Christian women. RIP Sister Edith.

I love to looking back on pictures and seeing all the different things we did at Grandma Alva's house. Growing up I was such a picky eater. Yet She some how convinced me to try black olives and collie flower. I don't know how She did it but She did. They now happen to be some of my favorite things to eat. I remember how we would spend Halloween at Grandma's house with all the grand kids and walk thru the neighborhood. How Zac won the costume contest the year he dressed up as Dark Vader. Or how we would meet up with Her when my family and I were in town for lunch. I could go on forever about all the memories that came with being apart of this family. Like I know everyone can. Which warms all of our hearts that we get to hold on to those memories we all cherish. I'm so glad my family and I have the honor to be apart of this family. It's been such a blessing.
Grandma Alva you were an amazing women, a mother, a sister, a daughter, a cousin, a grandma and a great-grandma, a loving friend and an outstanding fighter!
Grandma Alva filled the void in my moms heart for loosing her own mom at a young age. I could never be more thankful to Grandma for filling the physical mom role for her. This is just one act out of main that she did for the people around her that she loved. Grandma you were always loved completely and deeply! We miss you!!
To the family our prayers and condolences are with you always!! We love each and everyone of you!!

Our family will forever be grateful to have been blessed to have your family in our lives. Although we are not family by name we are by heart! Grandma Alva was a very special part of our lives. We couldn't have asked for a better caretaker for our babies and she certainly filled the role of a "Beloved Grandma" She will always hold a special place in our heats. Lots of love & continuous prayers for all.

My heart aches to hear that my dear friend Edith, who I have known and respected since the 8th grade, has left us suddenly. I will always treasure our friendship and remember her beauty, kindness, generosity, loyalty, wisdom, her entrepreneur spirit, her love of family and the many wonderful memories we had through the years. Being one of few life-long friends for me...she will be truly missed. My deepest condolences to the family. May God give you the strength to carry you through this very difficult period. Hopefully your faith, knowing that she is in a better place, as well as knowing that she had many family members and friends who loved her, will help. May she rest in peace. My deepest condolences to the family.
