Edith Elizabeth "Dibby" Bixby Smith, born March 31, 1911 in Buffalo, New York, passed away peacefully Sunday, February 28, 2010 at the age of 98, surrounded with the love of her family and dear friends. Dibby was preceded in death by her adoring husband of forty-five years, James Morgan Smith; parents, Percival and Edith Wesley Bixby; son, Matthew Berrien Smith; sister, Helen Raye Rogerson; and brother, John Wesley Bixby. She is survived by her daughters, Sally Bailey and her husband, Floyd, Nancy Reid, Lucy Hofmann and her husband, Mike; sister, Priscilla McKee; daughter-in-law, Susan Axsom Smith; grandchildren, Floyd Bailey Jr. and his wife, Sandra, Sally Jackson and her husband, Leland, James D. Bailey, Carrie E. Sykes, Julianna Reid, Matthew Reid and his wife, Marcy, Nicole Reid and her husband, Todd Schroer, Carol Evans and her husband, Mark, Betsy Eshelman and her husband, Ian, Damon Smith and his wife, Gareth, Nathaniel Smith and his wife, Liesl; twenty- eight great grandchildren; two great great grandchildren; and four nieces. Memorial Services will be 2:00 P.M. Tuesday, March 9, 2010 at First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood, 5520 Kingwood Dr., Kingwood, TX 77345. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to a memorial fund in Dibby Smith's honor to First Presbyterian Church of Kingwood or to the American Cancer Society, (800) 227-2345 or www.cancer.org.
