Edmond Brissette Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 26, 2015.
OTIS AND BANGOR - Edmond E. Brissette, 94, died September 25, 2015, at a Bangor hospital. He was born May 15, 1921 in Old Town a SON OF Mitchell and Eva (Messier) Brissette.

Ed grew up during the roaring 20's and made it through the 30's and Great Depression. He survived the 40's and World War II where he served in the Pacific with the US Navy. He returned from the war and raised a family. He was a master electrician, plumber, welder, carpenter, and as many were during his generation, a jack of all trades. He was never afraid to take on any project. He preferred working alone, never asking for help, yet he was always willing to help others. Ed was a drinker and smoke, one day when he was in his 50s, he quit both cold turkey. He started running, eventually running marathons into his 60s. He picked up the nick name "Fast Eddie". He trained for a year to swim across Beech Hill Pond. Ed loved golf, tennis, hunting and fishing. His wife Helen, died in 1988 and he lived alone in Otis for the next 27 years, where he kept busy with many projects. He even fell off the roof several times, knocking himself out and even breaking some bones. He never let anything slow him down he was a tough SOB. You kicked ass Dad. You are a great example of the greatest generation.

He is survived by his daughter Donna Harp and son Mike Brissette; grandchildren Michelle Cota, Steve Gerow, Michael Brissette, and Nicole Brissette; great grandchildren Dayna Cota, Jake Cota, Mick Gerow, Lucas Gerow, Ben Gerow, and Elizabeth Brissette. He was predeceased by his wife Helen; 2 sisters and three brothers.

Donna and Mike would like to thank Claudeen and the wonderful staff at Winterbury Heights for making Dad very happy there, Thank you to the VA for the wonderful and compassionate care given to our Dad.

A celebration of life gathering will be held Sunday October 4, 2015, from 10 a.m.-1 p.m. at Birmingham Funeral Home, 438 Main St., Old Town. Private burial will be at the family plot in Otis.

Donna and Mike
I'm so sorry for your loss.
"Uncle Day" was bigger than life in our family. As kids we were always thrilled when Day joined us for our nightly camp fire at Beech Hill Pond and tell one of his animated stories as only he could do. we all loved him dearly

So sorry for your loss. As each day passes reflect on the love you had and the times spent creating memories, until you can make new ones when you see Edmond again . John 5 : 28 says, " Do not be amazed at this, for the hour is coming in which all those in the memorial tombs will hear his voice and come out. "
