Eduardo Coligado Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Mar. 3 to Mar. 4, 2018.
Eduardo Ylanan Coligado, M.D., born April 18, 1936 to Jose and Pacita Coligado, peacefully passed away on February 9, 2018 at his home in Porter, Texas in the presence of his wife, Eladia Clemente Coligado, son Edwin, and his sisters in law, Fe Cabral and Nenita Clemente. As he lived his life in this world, he journeys to his next life on his own terms with the grace of our Lord.
A talented caricaturist, he graduated with a medical degree from the University of Philippines in 1962. He married the love of his life, Eladia, who was practicing as a nurse. He completed medical training in Cleveland, Ohio.
After having the honor of serving the communities of Geneva and Madison, Ohio from 1971 until 1976, he moved to Borger, Texas where he maintained private practice in internal medicine until 2001. Dr. Coligado and his family are immensely grateful to both communities for their friendship and support. Many of his former patients and friends still remember the care that he compassionately provided .
In the next chapter of his life, he and Eladia moved to the warmer climate of Porter, Texas. As great parental role models, they were a strong presence in the lives of their children and grandchildren. They have travelled the world having made friends amongst the birding community.
During the last chapter of his life on earth, he courageously accepted his terminal diagnosis and was blessed to be surrounded and visited by his family and many friends before passing. He was enlivened by their many visits, and he was fortunate to be well cared for by the palliative care team of Aspire and later in hospice care by Dr. Hemalatha Yaramada and her team.
Eduardo was a great husband, father, friend, and role model. He made his world a more beautiful place. He expressed his love in his quiet presence. He filled his home with his beautiful piano playing, and he was always tinkering around the home. He travelled the world with his wife, and he maintained a beautiful home and garden. His joy was to watch his grandchildren's concerts, dance recitals, and sporting events. He would take them to the Van Cliburn competitions and to the Gulf to share his love of birding. In his last years he was an active sitter for his youngest grandchildren.
Dr. Coligado is survived by loving wife Eladia, son Eric and his wife Gigi and their children Lea and Nicholas, son Edwin and his wife Sylvia and their children Hector, Nathalia, Isabella, and Joseph, son David and his wife Katie and their children Gus and Lucy, and daughter Emy Lee.
Extended surviving family includes Evelyn Coligado, Maria Paz Coligado Placencia, Herme Clemente, Emy Mallick, Elsa Aboytes, Jean Canales, Fe Cabral, and Nenita Clemente and their respective families .
A private mass was held at Darst Funeral Home in Porter, Texas on February 12, 2018. In tribute to his life, his family hopes that his friends and family will leave this world a better place, demonstrate their love to loved ones, and be proactive in maintenance of their physical, mental, and spiritual health.

Dr. C was a fine man. He shared wonderful children with our community and we are richer beings because of his choice to raise his family in Borger. May God keep and comfort his family all of their days.
