Edward DePiero Obituary
Edward John DePiero of Montvale, NJ passed away on June 15, 2017 at Villa Marie Claire in Saddle River, New Jersey at the age of 86. He was predeceased by his parents, the late Dante and Ines DePiero. Born on April 6, 1931 in Montvale, NJ, he graduated from Park Ridge High School. He is survived by his wife of 66 years, Elaine M DePiero. Also beloved father of Terry DePiero and Ellen of New Paltz, NY; Glen DePiero and wife Linda of Park Ridge, NJ; daughters Tammy Palmieri and husband Bruce, Bonnie Aurichio and husband Dave, both of Montvale, NJ; Craig DePiero and wife Donna of Park Ridge, NJ. Loving Grandfather of Alison, Colleen, Stacy, TJ, William, Catherine, Lily, Glen John, Cory, Kate, Beth, Lindsey, David, Tahrin, Taylor, Kyle, Devon, Kendahl, Danelle, Brittni, Courtney, Kaley, Andrew, Brad and twenty one (soon to be twenty five) wonderful Great Grandchildren. Dearest Brother to Irene Seckler of Park Ridge, NJ. A cousin to many and a loving Uncle to many nephews and nieces. In 1951, Edward and Elaine married, started a family and built a home next door to his parents in Montvale, NJ in 1951. It was here where he built upon his father's dream of being a farmer. He worked hard to grow his dreams and it served him well; the crops and family grew quickly. He will always be remembered for his passion for the farmland and the love he had for his family. He lived life "his way", and rarely a day went by where he wasn't found out working the fields or, in later years, stacking the bananas and tomatoes, or tending to the plants and flowers in the greenhouses. Edward and his warm smile will be sorely missed by the many lives he touched throughout the years. Visitation will be held at the Becker Funeral Home, 219 Kinderkamack Rd, Westwood, NJ on Wednesday June 21, 2017 from 2-4 PM and 7-9 PM. The funeral service celebrating Ed's life will be held at the funeral home Thursday June 22, 2017 at 12 PM. Entombment will follow at George Washington Memorial Park, Paramus, NJ. Donations in Edward's everlasting memory can be made to Villa Marie Claire, whose compassion and care in his last days was beyond words, or to a foundation of your choice. A treasured part of my 45-year history living in Montvale, "Mr. DePiero" leaves behind not only a legacy of his large and loving family, but customers who always had the pleasure to stop and chat for while. Whether that conversation was about the best produce and tips to cook or bake them; the way things used to be; how his immigrant parents industriously worked the farm (as did he and his family in their image); even about the horrific estate taxes his family suffered when his parents passed away - a double taxation - that took none of that dawn to dusk labor into consideration. Neither DePIero's Farm nor Edward John DePiero can ever be replaced. But, all those blessed memories live within the hearts of many. May Ed now rest in peace from his labors. Praying for Elaine, as I oft did when I saw this loving couple, and his grieving family. May they be blessed with peace.
