Edward Francis Ratterman, 62, died quietly December 2 at the group home where he had resided for many years. He was born March 23, 1960, the fourth son of Robert and Phyllis Ratterman. He was born with Down Syndrome and lived at home for as long as his parents were able to care for him. He then became a resident of group homes operated by Residential Management Systems where he received loving care and stimulating activities, including frequent field trips which he enjoyed. He graduated from the Margaret Rost School and attended workshop programs at Franks Adult Center and Kidd Adult Center, where he was employed doing tasks fitted to his ability and was in the company of companions who were similarly disabled. He is survived by his oldest brother and guardian at the time of his death, Robert Ratterman Jr. (Emilie); nieces and nephews Meggan Davison (Andy); Christian Ratterman; Elise Richard (Jerry); Chad Ratterman (Carrie); Kristin Guyer (Calvin III); Joe Ratterman (Serena); Joel Ratterman; and Kait Stumpo (Tony) and sisters-in-law Debi Ratterman and Jenny Ratterman. He was preceded in death by his parents and brothers Charles Ratterman and Richard Ratterman. Rick served as Edward"s guardian for nearly 20 years until his own death. Services will be Thursday, December 8, with visitation at 2:30 p.m. followed by a service at Meyer Funeral Home at 3:30 pm. The family suggests donations in his memory to Margaret Rost School, 5858 Bridgetown Road, Cincinnati Ohio 45248.
