Edward F. Heffron, 48, of West West Terrace, Branch Township, passed away Friday, December 31, 2021, at home.
Born in Pottsville on October 25, 1973, he was the beloved son of Georgine Hanney Heffron, Duncott and the late James M. Heffron. Eddie was the light of his Mothers eyes, he was always "her Eddie." He was a 1991 graduate of Minersville High School and a 22-year Veteran of the Pennsylvania Army National Guard with two overseas deployments. He retired at the rank of Sergeant First Class.
He was a member of St. Michael the Archangel Church, Minersville. Ed was also a member of the Mountaineer Fire Company, the Minersville American Legion and the Coal Street Plaza, which encompassed many fun times and unforeseen get-togethers with the local law enforcement. Eddie was an amazing human being to be around, he had the ability to make anyone laugh and light up an entire room.
Eddie started his working career young. At the age of 6, he and his brothers, Marty and Jim, were deemed young laborers removing shingles from roofs for their Dad's construction business. Eddie always liked earning a buck. At the age of 8, he became a newspaper carrier for Shandri's and struck up a lifetime friendship with Bill Shandri. Everyone that Ed met along his paper route immediately loved him. Mary Kamenas would tell him he would one day become Mayor of Minersville, because he was so friendly, funny and dependable. Later on in his 20's, Ed was self-employed, owning Edward Heffron's painting and construction business. Heading into his 30's, he was employed by Reading Anthracite Coal Co. as a heavy equipment operator. Ed was one of the few individuals who had the abilities to operate the DEMAG, which he was very proud of and often worked double and triple shifts. Eddie loved running heavy equipment and had a natural ability to do so. Ed worked for Allen Myers Construction as a Heavy Equipment operator and was last employed at Fort Indiantown Gap on active duty special work as a truck driver and warehouse technician, which he was able to work side by side with his sister, Karin. Ed's work ethic was unsurpassed and instilled in him by his Dad.
Eddie was a huge animal lover. He adored his white Siberian husky, Thunder, who enjoyed frequenting the neighbors' yards. Ed loved his fur babies, Chloe, Baby and Pudder.
Ed and his son, Gage, were inseparable while he was growing up. Ed set a high standard of work ethic for Gage, which helped make his son the intelligent, productive, dependable person everyone wants to have as a friend. Ed was beyond proud of Gage becoming a Marine. Ed was most proud of Gage for becoming a wonderful and loving husband to Elizabeth and a caring father to Rhea. Ed will always be remembered for his beautiful piercing blue eyes, his fun-loving attitude, being the Best "Uncle Eddie," a spectacular dancer and how much he loved his family and friends. Ed loved his mother more than he could ever express, and cherished spending time with his brothers and sister.
In addition to his loving mother, Ed is survived by his son, Gage Heffron (spouse Elizabeth), Primrose, Cass Township; his granddaughter which he loved so much, Rhea Heffron; his lifelong friend and love, Elena Minder, Cass Township, Role-model for Lauren Tobin, Branchdale and Adrian Albertini, Wilkes Barre, three siblings, Martin Heffron (spouse Tanya), Branchdale, James Heffron (spouse Tricia), Duncott and Karin Kromer (spouse LeRoy), Cressona; eight nieces and nephews, Lukas, Amber and Kane Heffron, Jarrod, Jameson and Aly Heffron, Pierce and Pearl Kromer; great-nephew, Kasen Templeton and great-niece, Harper Heim. He is also survived by many aunts, uncles and cousins.
Ed will be missed dearly. May Eddie and his Dad be together once again and rest in peace for eternity.
