Edward R. Hubbell, born May 15, 1921 in Houston, Texas, passed away November 23, 2011 in Houston, leaving his precious wife of 65 years, Vivian O'Quinn Hubbell; darling daughter, Linda Hubbell Henderson and son-in-law, H. Bart Henderson, whom he loved as a son.
Mr. Hubbell was the owner of Hubbell & Sons Food Products for 46 years, and enjoyed the friendship and respect of many Houston Retail Grocers. He was an avid outdoor sportsman and loved hunting and fishing. Eddie was a very active member of St. Mark's United Methodist Church for over 50 years, serving in many positions, including Chairman of the Administrative Board. He was Sunday School teacher of both Youth and Triple M Class for over 40 years. He was a member of Woodland Masonic Lodge #1157, AF & AM, 32nd degree KCCH, Scottish Rite and a member of Arabia Shrine.
Eddie served in the 9th USAF as a P-47 fighter pilot in WW II, attaining the rank of Captain and flew 96 combat missions. He flew two missions (starting before daylight) flying "top cover" June 6, 1944 for the D-Day Invasion of Normandy. He was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star, the Air Medal with 17 Oak Leaf Clusters and 6 Battle Stars.
The family will receive friends from 4:00 p.m. till 7:00 p.m. Monday, November 28, 2011 at Heights Funeral Home. A funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, November 29, 2011 at St. Mark's United Methodist Church, 600 Pecore Street, Houston, Texas 77009. Interment will be private in Forest Park Lawndale Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial donations may be made to St. Mark's UMC or DePelchin Children's Center, P.O. Box 201703, Houston, Texas 77216.

My prayers are for Mr. Hubbell's family. From my friendship with Linda and Bart within the Houston Rodeo, I become aware of the memories Linda has for her Father which will confort her as she continues to celebrate his life with her family.
