Edward H. Mellon

Edward H. Mellon, 65, of Monongahela (Valley Inn), died Wednesday, Jan. 18, 2006, in Monongahela Valley Hospital. Born Oct. 10, 1940, in Monongahela, he was a son of the late Cecil H. and Doris Loadman Mellon. He worked for 31 years in Union Local 66 as a heavy equipment operator. Mr. Mellon graduated in 1958 from Monongahela High School and served in the U.S. Army. He was a member of numerous social clubs in the Mon Valley area. Surviving is a sister and brother-in-law, Elsie and George Kowasic, of Fayette City; a step son, Joe Kalenic; two step daughters, Vicky and Lisa Kalenic; a brother-in-law, John Curcio, of Monongahela; two nieces, Kyra L. Kowasic and Christine Curcio; two nephews, Matthew G. Kowasic and John A. Curcio Jr.; two aunts, Helen and Marie Mellon, both of McKeesport; and several cousins. Preceding him in death was his wife, Shirley Ellsworth Kalenic-Mellon, in November 1996; one brother, Richard C. Mellon, in 1951; a sister, Linda D. Curcio, in 2000; and a step son, Patrick Kalenic. Friends will be received in the MARSHALL MARRA FUNERAL HOME, 216 Chess St., Monongahela (724-258-6767), from 7 to 9 p.m. Friday. At the request of the family, funeral services will be private.
