Edward Piechowski Obituary

Edward F. Piechowski, of Niagara Falls, died on Saturday, March 15, 2008 following a brief illness. He was 83. He was born in Ranshaw, PA on April 27, 1924, a son of the late Walter and Anna (Domanski) Piechowski. He joined the US Army at 18 and served during World War II with the 479th Quartermaster Laundry Company. He was honorably discharged February 4, 1946. In 1948 he moved to Niagara Falls and worked for the Union Carbide Company and later worked for the Niagara Falls Board of Education as a Porter for 34 years at 79th Street School. He retired in 1989. Mr. Piechowski was a member of the former Church of the Redeemer for 45 years and served on the advisory council and as head usher. He also maintained the church grounds. He joined St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church two years ago. He was a loyal Yankee fan and enjoyed find a word puzzles, riding his bicycle and walking. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Ruth (Whitmer) Piechowski; four children, Russell Piechowski of Niagara Falls; Robert (Lynn) Piechowski of Lewiston; Thomas Piechowski and Louise LeBlond both of Niagara Falls; grandchildren, Cory and Laura Piechowski, Jerry (Denise) Piechowski; Steve (Kristin) Piechowski; Kelly (Robert) McNally; great grandchildren, Madison, Logan and Kyle; two brothers, Walter Piechowski of Newark, DE; Vincent Piechowski of Mount Carmel, PA; a sister, Josephine (Frank) Stenko of Shoesmakersville, PA. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings Stanley and John Piechowski. Friends may call Monday from 5-8 PM in the LANE FUNERAL HOME, Inc., 8622 Buffalo Avenue. Funeral services will be held Tuesday 11 AM In St. Stephen’s Episcopal Church, 616 Cayuga Drive, Niagara Falls. Interment will be in Riverdale Cemetery, Lewiston. Memorials, if desired, may be made to the church.
