Edwin Earl Corbett was born on Jan. 31, 1955, in Council Bluffs to parents Edwin Earl Moore and Shirley Kay Mackey. He died on June 4, 2011 in Omaha, Neb. at the age of 56 years, four months and four days. Ed grew up in Woodbine and Denison and graduated from Denison High School in 1973. He then attended Wayne State College. Ed went to work at Vickers Sperry Rand in Omaha and then attended Creighton University. On Aug. 13, 1978, Ed married Dina Roundy at the Woodbine United Methodist Church. The couple operated a grocery store in Denison and then in 1982, purchased the Food Land grocery stores in Woodbine as well as Missouri Valley from Dina's parents. In 2008 they added to their grocery stores by purchasing the Weeping Water, Neb. store.

Ed attended the Trinity Church in Omaha, Neb. Ed was a fabulous piano player. He could hear a song once and be able to sit down and play it and even wrote some of his own music. Ed loved spending time with his kids and grandkids.

Ed was preceded in death by his parents, his grandfather, James Earl Mackey and his parents-in-law, Lloyd and Bonnie (Musgrave) Roundy. He is survived by his wife of 32 years, Dina Corbett of Woodbine; four children, Jessie and her husband James Keslar of Omaha, Neb., Justin Corbett and his wife Wendy of Mesa, Ariz., Jenny Corbett of Omaha, Neb., John Corbett and his wife Angela of Omaha, Neb.; three grandchildren, Eva, Theodore and Landry Keslar; grandmother, Mabel Mackey of Woodbine; two brothers, James Corbett and his wife Mary of Ankeny, Kevin Corbett of Sioux City; two sisters, Kerry Moore of Rancho Cucamonga, Calif., Gayle and her husband Kip McMillen of Des Moines; and many other relatives and friends.

Private funeral services were held on June 9, 2011 with Pastor Dave Collins as the clergy. Music was provided by Cheryl Freeman. The pall bearers were Jessie Corbett-Keslar, Justin R. Corbett, Jenny Corbett, John Corbett, James Keslar, John Ganzhorn, Ken Waite, Jay Corbett and Kevin Corbett. The final resting place was at the Woodbine Cemetery.
