We gather today to honor the life of Eddie Miranda, a man whose journey carried him from the streets of New York, Europe, Puerto Rico, and San Antonio to the heights of scientific leadership. His life tells a story of resilience, pride, and boundless love. He leaves behind a legacy defined by strength, quiet luxury, and selfless devotion.

Eddie, born in New York, inherited his father's fighting spirit, both literally and metaphorically, which led him to earn an athletic scholarship to San Angelo State University, where he graduated with a double major-just married with a newborn son, Jean-Paul Miranda-his heart, his mirror, his greatest legacy. As a father, his love was unmatched, fierce, and unconditional. He worked tirelessly to ensure that his son with whom he proudly shared his Puerto Rican heritage, could enjoy the life he had built from the ground up and had been raised with-a life of class, comfort, opportunity, and respect.

Determined to create a stable and meaningful life for his family, Eddie soon enlisted in the United States Army and was able to gain experience to launch a remarkable career in biochemistry. He rose to the position of Vice President at several prestigious institutions and traveled the world, always bringing back endearing souvenirs and stories to share with those he loved.

Through all his travels, Eddie found joy in life's quiet elegance: a well-cooked meal, a strong drink, or a story told at just the right time. He didn't live for recognition; he lived with purpose, and those lucky enough to be loved by him knew what it meant to be cherished.

He is preceded in death by his father, Edwin Miranda Sr., and is survived by his mother, Proserpina Miranda; his son, Jean-Paul Miranda; his daughter-in-law, Ember Valdez, and step-grandchild, Elena Valdez; his sisters, Gretchen Miranda and Giselle Miranda Martino; his brother-in-law Mike Martino and their children, Elise and Anthony Martino, along with Anthony's wife, Ali Martino. He is also survived by extended family, dear friends around the world, and countless comrades whose lives were touched by his brilliance, humor, and unwavering loyalty.

Eddie loved without reservation, lived with fullness, and left a legacy that will live on in all of us. We lovingly carry him with us-always.
