Eileen DeFrances Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 20, 2024.
Eileen McCormick DeFrances of Denver, CO, formerly of Barrington, IL, passed away March 12, 2024, surrounded by her loving children. Eileen was born in Boston, MA to Joseph and Anna McCormick in 1955. When she was a baby, her family returned to IL and settled in Lombard where she grew up a happy and beloved daughter and sister. Eileen went to Sacred Heart Grammar School and then attended Montini High School and graduated with honors in 1972. One of her greatest joys was attending the University of Dayton where she made lifelong friends, made many happy memories and met the love of her life, Tony DeFrances.

Upon graduation in 1976, Eileen became a registered dietitian. Eileen and Tony married in 1977 and spent the first years of their married life in Dayton, OH. Eileen went on to work in the pharmaceutical industry for Syntex Corp, and when she was offered a major career promotion, the happy couple moved to Barrington, IL. After receiving her master's degree from Roosevelt University in 2000, she continued her career with Informed Medical Communications. As impressive as her career accomplishments were, her true calling was her family.

Eileen and Tony were blessed with 3 children: Michael (Sarah Swinson), Kevin (Ashley Jensen) and Danielle (Gregory Kostuk). Perhaps the greatest joys of Eileen's life were her 6 precious grandchildren, Luke, John, Skyler, Izabella, Antonia and Holden. Eileen enjoyed traveling and loved visiting them frequently around the country.

She is survived by her children and grandchildren, her 4 siblings and spouses, her sister-in-law and spouse, many nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and wonderful lifelong friends.

Eileen was preceded in death by her husband, Tony DeFrances, her parents, Joseph and Anna McCormick, her parents-in-law, Rocco and Rita DeFrances, and her nephew and godson, John Kaleba.

Eileens's memory will live on in the hearts of all who loved her for her kindness and goodness all the days of her life.

Services to celebrate Eileen's life will be held at St Anne's Church in Barrington, IL on Monday March 25, 2024. Family will receive friends from 9:30am at the church with a Mass following at 11:00am.

I am so sorry to hear of Eileen's passing - I worked with Eileen for several years in the pharmaceutical industry - her work was that of a consummate professional ....whenever we needed to demonstrate our company's work product to our clients ...we thought to showcase Eileen ...on top of that, I loved her warmth, friendliness, street smarts, and I loved teasing her about her rather strong (to my Canadian ears) Chicago accent!! Our deepest sympathies to her loving family, Kevin

We befriended Eileen through our children and the St. Anne community. Our kids remain friends to this day. We have many fond memories of school and church events, and keeping up with the kiddos! Our love and support goes out to the family and so many friends whose lives she touched.

We had no classes together, but many friends in common. She was a very friendly and happy person. I believe her warmth and kindness was contagious. I doubt she said an unkind word in her life. My prayers are with her and her family.
