Formerly of Pittsburgh passed away Tuesday, March 20, 2007 in Dania Beach, FL. She was born in Bridgeville, PA on February 16, 1916 and moved to Florida in 1989. As Director of Volunteers at St. Margaret's Hospital in Lawrenceville, Eileen met and married Dr. Dominic DiSilvio. She was also a vocalist and entertainer who appeared in many Savoyards Gilbert and Sullivan productions. In retirement, she performed locally as "The Hat Lady" for women's clubs and programs. The creator of "Wonderful Whimsy" cards, her artistic talents extended beyond sketching to sewing and cooking sumptuous meals. Her husbands, Joseph Giarrusso, and Dominic DiSilvio preceded her in death. Eileen was the loving and beloved mother of sons, Joseph Giarrusso of Punta Gorda, FL, Michael Giarrusso of Deerfield Beach, FL; daughters, Eileen Giarrusso of Deerfield Beach, Florida, Antonia Vollberg (Carlton), Punta Gorda, and Maria DiSilvio Satchell (Deven) of Hollywood, Florida. Proud stepmother to Dominic DiSilvio, Richard DiSilvio and Natalie (DiSilvio) Baker Shirer all of Pittsburgh. She also leaves behind twenty-seven grandchildren and thirty-two great grandchildren. Two sisters, Hazel LaBona and Catherine Irving, survive her. Eileen enjoyed helping others and was a devout Catholic. Witty, intelligent and charming she will be sorely missed, but always in our hearts. A funeral mass will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, March 24, 2007 at The Resurrection Church, Dania, FL. A memorial mass will be held in Pittsburgh at a later date. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations in Eileen's name be made to Hospice Care of Southeast Florida, 309 S.E. 18th St., Fort Lauderdale, FL 33316.
