Eileen F. "Kelly" Finch, age 58, of Brighton Il. Passed away Saturday July 28, 2018 at Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis MO.
Kelly was born July 27, 1960 in Frankfurt, Germany to James F. Kelly and Lillian Marley Kelly. She was the youngest of five children and is survived by her siblings: Edwin P. Kelly of California, Cathryn Field Betterton of Ohio, and George Field of California, and Conrad Field who surpassed her in death.
At the age of two Kelly's family moved to Sacramento California where she resided until joining the Navy.
Kelly was a proud Navy Veteran. Her services began in Jacksonville, Fl where she completed basic training. She served in the U.S. Navy from April 1986 through February 1988 when she was honorably discharged. She was stationed as a Navy Seabee for Military construction sites in Sigonella, Italy. Kelly often spoke of her service time and was very fond of her time in Italy. Kelly received the First Good Conduct Award for period ending January 1988. She also received the Overseas Service Ribbon and the Navy Rifle Marksmanship Ribbon.
Kelly served as Resident Council President and a Banana Boat Bingo Volunteer at Robings Manor Nursing Facility where she was loved by the staff, residents, and dear friends. She had a wonderful sense of humor, and could put a smile on anyone's face. She was a very bright, intelligent woman, who was rarely seen without her favorite books. Kelly will be greatly missed by everyone who had the pleasure to know her and call her their friend.
Friends will gather at Hoffmeister Colonial Mortuary, 6464 Chippewa at Watson, at 12 p.m. to pay their respects and there from proceed at 1:00 p.m. to Jefferson Barracks National Cemetery for a graveside service beginning at 1:30 p.m.
Robings Manor Nursing Rehabilitation and Health Care Center will be establishing the Finch Memorial Library of Robings Manor in Kelly's honor. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Robings manor at 502 N. Main St. Brighton, IL 62012 in support of the new Finch Memorial Library.
