Elaine SHATENSTEIN Obituary
Our beloved Elaine left us on Monday, April 7, 2014, just sixty-one years old. She lived life on her own terms and was magnificent in the face of terrible challenges these past nine months. Daughter of much-loved parents, the late Moe Shatenstein and the late Lottie Alper. Dear step-daughter of Dave Alper. Loving sister and sister-in-law of Bryna Shatenstein and Victor Dabby, Stan Shatenstein, Deborah Alper and Jay Aaron. Cherished aunt of Dia Dabby and Adam Sargon, Layla Dabby; Gabriel Marleau- Shatenstein; Rebecca, Benjamin, and Leah Hiscott. Elaine was cared for deeply by her dear aunts, uncles, cousins and friends, and by Dave's children and grandchildren. Funeral service from Paperman & Sons, 3888 Jean Talon St. W., on Thursday, April 10 at 11:00 a.m. Burial at the Baron de Hirsch Cemetery, de la Savane. Shiva at her sister's home in Outremont, through Sunday evening. Contributions in her memory may be made to the "Elaine Shatenstein Memorial Fund for Pulmonary Oncology" at the Jewish General Hospital Foundation, (514) 340-8251.

Elaine was a colleague of mine. She was a highly intelligent, perceptive and compassionate woman who cared about the greater good for her all of her colleagues at every level. I am so sorry that we have lost her.
