Elda Irene Shelatz

Elda Irene Shelatz, 85, of Hartstown Road, Linesville, passed away unexpectedly on Friday, Feb. 12, 2010, at her residence. Born June 24, 1924, in Penn Line, she was the daughter of Jesse and Cena Powers Phelps. She married Frank J. Shelatz on April 26, 1942, in Ripley, N.Y.; he preceded her in death on Aug. 12, 2000.She was a member of North Shenango Presbyterian Church in Espyville. For more than 30 years she was a member of TOPS (Take Off Pounds Sensibly), Linesville.Elda was a loving and devoted housewife. She enjoyed crocheting, cooking and baking. Survivors include three sons, Robert L. Shelatz and his wife, Norma, of Cochranton, Gary T. Shelatz of Pueblo, Calif., and Allan F. Shelatz of Linesville; five grandchildren, Jeremy Shelatz and his wife, Robin, of Conneautville, Jody Shelatz and his wife, Cammie, of Rochelle, Va., Chad Shelatz of Linesville, Pastor Jacob Shelatz and his wife, Becky, of Indiana, Pa., and Stacey Heinle and her husband, Peter, of Normal, Ill.; nine great-grandchildren, Aliyah, Tristan, Branden, Hannah, Meghan, Chloe, Myah, Alexis and Aidan; a sister, Anna Millard and her husband, Gilbert, of Linesville; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Frank J. Shelatz; three sisters, Wauneita Thompson, Helen Baker and Emma Litwiler; and two brothers, Earl and Floyd Phelps. Calling hours will be Wednesday from 10 a.m. to noon at Royal-Coleman Funeral Home, 6028 U.S. Highway 6, Linesville.The funeral will follow the calling hours at noon on Wednesday at the funeral home, with Pastor Jacob Shelatz, grandson of Elda, officiating.
