Eldon liked to sit down with a good cup of coffee, visit, and tell funny stories about his children, grandchildren, and share memories from when he was growing up. During these times he would laugh his soft and almost giggly laugh that was uniquely his. I enjoyed all these special times with him, and will miss him!

My favorite memory is when me, Grandpa, Jessie, and Dad went to Mexico and we went in Jessie's truck up to the mountains to see the secret beach.

Some of my favorite times with Grandpa were when we made each other laugh. I would pull the corners of his mouth up into a smile, which made him really smile, and then we would just start laughing. On one of those days, he would make a big bowl of popcorn for me because I like the kind at his house the best. Those were always good days, and I will miss them. I love you Grandpa, and I hope you are laughing again up in heaven.

I met Eldon on a blind date. I was fifteen and he was nineteen. He was with another girl and I was with his friend, but we didn't talk. The next day the phone rang and it was him, asking if I would be interested in going out to eat a hamburger. So we went to the Mammoth Orange stand and had hamburgers together. After that we saw each other every day, and he called me everyday until we got married.

I loved the silly side of my dad. As a child, I would sit on his lap and he would tell me stories. These times were always filled with so much energy and humor. He would make faces so that I would laugh and used funny voices and noises to get me to laugh harder. Even though I don't remember the stories anymore, the memories of a father who gladly brought joy into the life of his daughter will always be with me. I love you dad and I am so thankful for all of the joy that you brought in my life.

When I think of my dad, I think of when I was a little boy and I would go up to him and ask, 'Dad, do you have time to answer a question?' because I always had questions; and he would look at me and say, 'Jason Matthew, I've got all the time in the world.' and he would sit there and answer any question I had and we would talk for a long time. He did that for me my entire life. Anything I needed to know, anything I needed to ask he would always answer for me. He was always giving me all the time he had in the world, and for that I will be forever grateful. He was my father, my friend, and the man who always answered my tough questions. I miss you, I love you, and I will never forget you Dad.

When I was younger, we used to go up to Briceburg, close to Yosemite and go snorkeling. We'd swim through holes and other stuff. Dad could go to the bottom of those holes and just lay around. I couldn't because it would hurt my ears. But he could go down there and get crawdads, and one time he came up with a crawdad stuck inside his mask. I wasn't having none of that, no way. We used to take watermelons and go camping up there, back when Don Souza used to go with us. It was an all-day thing, but it was fun.

One of my favorite and very first memories of dad happened when I was about two years old, and he made me a popcorn ball. He was talking to me as he got it ready, standing by the stove shaping handfuls of popcorn into a ball because he knew it was my favorite. The thought of him making that for me still cases me to smile.

Well my memories with Grandpa were always great. My earliest memories were of me performing Elvis concerts and throwing handkerchiefs at my number one fan, which was grandpa. Every time I saw him he was always showering me with goodies like ice cream sandwiches, watermelons, or king sized candy bars. Then I would sit on his knee as I enjoyed them and watch a movie, like Jurassic Park. I love my Grandpa very much and I can't deny that he may have spoiled me.....just a teeny bit. He was always happy as long as I was happy, and now I'm happy knowing that he is happy.

The Class of 1962 is very sad to loose another of their classmates. I remember Eldon very well from our school days. May he rest in peace and may the family find comfort in this most difficult time. God Bless You All!!!
