Elizabeth Dusik Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Aug. 18, 2025.
Elizabeth Ann "Betti" Dusik (nee Magliochetti) passed away, surrounded by the love of family, in the early hours of July 13, 2025, after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer.

Betti was born on July 4, 1949, in Oak Park, Ill., to Joseph and Antoinette Magliochetti. Hers was a life in full: infused with purpose, mindfulness, independence and joy for the many pursuits and various interests she cultivated from an early age.

Expressive talent was one of Betti's many gifts. Music was important to her; she loved live performances and appeared in several musicals produced by community chorales and troupes. She found meaning in visual media, be it painting, sculpture, film or craftwork. A trained artist, she created many compelling works and greatly enjoyed inspiring members of her local art collective to live their own version of the artist's life.

Betti engaged her community by supporting charitable causes and volunteering for organizations. She was a patron of libraries, museums and gardens. She served as president of the Kiwanis Club of Brookfield/Riverside and stood for public office. Adventurous to the end, Betti was an eager traveler. She believed in lifelong learning from things great and small; in books, experience, and observances, and was happy to share the wisdom she found with others in need.

Relationships were paramount to Betti - she held abiding love for family, nurtured enduring friendships and engendered respect among colleagues. All who knew her will fondly attest to the innumerable ways in which she enriched their lives.

Betti and her former husband, Michael Dusik, were the parents of two loving sons, Jack Dusik of Willowbrook, Ill., and Eric (Tonya Leigh) of LaGrange, Ill. She is survived by them and her dear sisters, June Kriviskey (Christine Harris) of Wauwatosa, Wis., and Diane (John) Wollney of Western Springs, Ill.; her sister-in-law Kathleen Magliochetti of Toledo, Ohio; her granddaughter Jalyn (Ricky) Lentz; and two great-grandchildren, Anastasia and Greyson Lentz, who brought light and joy into her days. She was a favorite aunt to nieces and nephews Brenna Kriviskey Sadler, Scott and Kate Wollney and Amy, Joseph and Andrew Magliochetti, as well as many great-nieces and nephews, and created happy memories with cousins and good friends. She was preceded in death by her dear parents and brother, Joseph Magliochetti.

Services will be private. We encourage those interested in making a memorial donation in celebration of Betti's life to do so with the National Pancreas Foundation (http://www.bit.ly/NPF_DonateInMemory) or to a charity of your choice.
