Elizabeth E. Fritz

Elizabeth E. Fritz of Wethersfield, passed away on Saturday, May 24, 2014 at her home. Elizabeth was born in New Britain and was the daughter of the late Mary and Fred Collins. Elizabeth, or Betty as she was called, lived in Newington most of her life. Betty worked most of her life in the Newington School System, in different capacities where she made many friends. Her favorite job we believe was when she worked for the Assistant Principal. Betty was a true lady to the core in every sense of the word, but she told you like it was. The troubled pupils sent to the office would often respond better to my mother's mixture of gentleness, intelligence and straight truth. She received many thanks over the years from families and the youths themselves for her understanding during hard times. It seems she touched many lives throughout her life because our family would always hear, "Oh I know Betty, she was so nice." Although she had many friends, few were as dear to her as Phyllis Gebo, Diane Butler and Anita Seidsma. Betty also had the same hairstylist and friend all her life, Frank Cavaliere. She said once, "If I think of all the time I've sat, talked and laughed in Frank's chair, it makes me feel old." Betty had a great love for family. The Sunday dinners and holidays will always be remembered fondly. Betty will be remembered by her daughter, Debra Cyrulik and her husband, Walter of Wethersfield and her daughter, Maryann Fritz and William Seaha of Citrus Springs, FL. She also will be remembered by her grandson, William Fritz of Woodbridge, VA who kept her young and brought her such joy and pride over the years. We would like to thank Dr. Albert Dennuzio for being not only a wonderful doctor, but a good friend. We would also like to thank our VNA nurse, Jodi. We cannot say thank you enough to our home health care aide, Maria. Good, trustworthy and competent people are hard to find, but we were lucky enough to get you. We think you know how much you have helped us and how much you mean to us. Thank you Cookie! Betty's funeral service will begin on Wednesday morning, May 28, 2014 at 9:30 a.m., from Newington Memorial Funeral Home, 20 Bonair Ave., Newington, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial, at 10:30 a.m. at the Church of the Holy Spirit, Newington. She will be laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery, New Britain. Relatives and friends are invited to call on Tuesday evening, May 27, from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. at Newington Memorial.
