Elizabeth (Liz) Pool (nee Hoskins) Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 22, 2025.
Elizabeth (Liz) Kay Pool (nee Hoskins), formerly of Delafield and Oconomowoc area, died early Christmas morning at 12:50 am. Her death was a Christmas blessing after losing her six-month battle with lung and liver cancer. She is survived by loving-husband Randy Pool; parents Robert and Janet (nee Strike) Hoskins; son Jeremy (Kate) Foster; grandsons Quinn and Odin Foster; brothers Robert, Gerald (Julia), and James Hoskins; and sisters Pamela (Gene) Sadorf and Rebecca Hoskins.

She is also survived by aunts Kathy Lampe, Laura (Ray) Kleemeier, and Lona Johann; and uncle Jerry (Joline) Wendt. Other special relatives and friends include her cousin Michael Hoskins, niece Octavia (Michael) Haines, special 'stepmother' Mary Ann Aimers, special 'uncle' Robert (Butch) Stettler and dear friends Karen Colonna, Lani Northern and Sharon Davidson.

Liz especially appreciated her days of respite from the long Wisconsin winters when she and Karen escaped to Karen's condo in Florida - that's what friends are for.

Though Liz is survived by two aunts and three cousins who overcame cancer, she is nevertheless predeceased by her great-grandmother Pauline Hoskins, grandmother Leona Strike, grandfather Gerald Hoskins, great-aunts Alice (Hoskins) Sorby and Grace (Hoskins) McGarry, uncle Lawrence Hoskins, aunt Nancy (Hoskins) Niese, and cousin Jamie Strike - all of whom succumbed to cancer.

Now we grieve for Liz.

Liz was a graduate of Kettle Moraine High School (Wales, WI). Throughout her life, she was a reader of many books, a fan of true crime TV programs, and never missed an episode of 'Yellowstone'. With husband Randy, she shared a dog that they dearly loved. And she enjoyed working with her cousin Mike in his garden and kitchen, harvesting and canning his excellent pickles and tomatoes.

Having a passion for shopping and collecting antiques, Liz found paradise in Galena, Illinois. During summers, she was a regular at Maxwell Street Days in Mukwonago, where she and sisters Pam and Becky, her brother Jim, friend Dennis Hall, and often her Strike boy cousins would meet for a day of doing 'nothing' - but then again, doing 'nothing' was fun!

Growing up, Liz and her brother Bob spent their early years, and later many summers on the farm of their grandparents' (Glen and Leona Strike). As adults, they cherished their visits back to the farm, as well as the gravesites of their grandparents in the Rome Cemetery.

On these visits, Liz enjoyed stopping at Dig-N-Kat's bar in Rome, owned by cousin David Strike (aka Digger). And if luck would have it, Diggers' two brothers 'Tuff' and "Herk' (aka Glenn and Roger, respectively), would be in attendance - a family reunion of sorts.

A service and interment, officiated by Fr. Pat Wendler from St. Mary's Catholic Church (Sullivan, WI), will take place at 1:00 pm on Saturday, May 17, 2025 at St. Luke's Lutheran Cemetery in Rome, WI (Jefferson Co.), located on Jefferson Street, also known as County Hwy P.

For directions or details on Liz's celebration of life, call her father Bob Hoskins (414) 248-6513 or cousin Mike Hoskins (414) 339-6080. Those preferring to sit during the gravesite service, please bring a lawn chair.
