Elizabeth Kiyfes Pokrajac

Elizabeth Pokrajac (Kiyfes), age 97 passed away peacefully Saturday, October 8, 2022. Elizabeth, born May 3, 1925 was the fifth child of Andrew Kiyfes and Anna Klarich. Elizabeth was married to George Pokrajac for 64 years, where they resided in Bethel Park.

Elizabeth is survived by 4 daughters, Linda Mejia, of Alexandria, VA; Donna Stoczynski (David) of Harborcreek, PA; Chris McSween of Fredericksburg, VA; Georgene Palacky (Gerald May) of Barboursville, VA; and son Luke Pokrajac of Rock Hill, SC; two grandchildren Ryan McSween of Fredericksburg, VA and Lauren Stoczynski (Romeo Schwartz) of Lafayette, IN; and sister-in-law Betsy Pokrajac of Bethel Park, PA, as well as many loving nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother; Andrew Kiyfes (Lee); sisters Johanna Strinic (Michael), Marion Skoncey (Michael), Christine Fischer (James) and son-in-law Martin McSween.

Elizabeth graduated from Bethel Park High School in 1943 and was an Honor Graduate of West Penn Hospital School of Nursing in 1946. Elizabeth was a Cadet Nurse during World War II and an OB GYN RN at Magee Hospital from 1946-1949 before she and George started a family. Later in life she worked as a private duty nurse until she reached retirement.

Elizabeth was an active volunteer with South Hills Interfaith Ministries (SHIM) and a member of Bethel Achates Club in Bethel Park for many years. She and George also traveled the US twice in an RV and saw many areas of the country on their trips.
