Ellen G. Birdsong, 80, a retired from the Travel House, died Wednesday, November 5, 2008, at NWMRMC. Visitation is tdoay 11 am-12 pm at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale, MS. Funeral services are 12 pm today at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Clarksdale, MS with burial in the Oakridge Cemetery.
Meredith-Nowell Funeral Home in Clarksdale,MS is handling the arrangements.
Mrs. Birdsong graduated from Dublin High School and member of the Alter Society at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church. She was a communicate of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.
She is preceded in death by her parents, William Galceran and Elise McClellan Murphy; husband, Robert R. Birdsong; and sister, Christine Mobley.
Survivors include: five daughters, Margaret Johnson (Pete) of Clarksdale, MS, Pat Smith (Tim) of Sugar Grove, NC, Claudia Henson (Edwin) of Greenwood, MS, Mary Alice McLaurin of Tupelo, MS, and Ellen Prestia (Jack) of Atlanta, GA; two sons, Bill Birdsong (Janie) of Portland, OR and Robert Birdsong of Clarksdale, MS; 16 grandchildren, Will Birdsong, Jane Ellen Birdsong-Johnson, Mary Margaret Neal, Anne Clark Downing, Steve Marinelli, Elijah Davenport, Alice Moody, Adam Moody, Jeff Henson (Scarlet), Greg Birdsong, Jessica Graves, Robert Birdsong David McLaurin, Bramlett McLaurin, Meredith McLaurin and Caterina Prestia; and 12 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be sent to St. Elizabeth School or donors choice.
