Webster - Ellen Kuecker, 83, of Webster died on Thursday, Aug. 31, 2006, at Bethesda Home in Webster. Her funeral will be at 2 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, 2006, at the United Methodist Church in Webster. Rev. John Hisel will officiate. Burial will be in the Webster Cemetery. Visitation will be at Fiksdal Funeral Service in Webster on Tuesday, 4-7 p.m., and prior to services on Wednesday. Ellen Viola Voegele was born on Sunday, Nov. 5, 1922, to Jacob and Lydia (Schumacher) Voegele on the family farm in Edmunds County, S.D., near Roscoe. She attended school in Roscoe and graduated Valedictorian from Roscoe High School. After high school, she attended the Peabody School of Nursing in Webster and graduated as a Registered Nurse in 1944. On June 14, 1945, she was united in marriage to Norman Kuecker in the United Methodist Church in Webster. After their marriage, the couple made their home on the Kuecker family farm (Kuecker Seed, Inc.) south of Webster. She was a very dedicated Registered Nurse and worked at Peabody Hospital, Lake Area Hospital and Bethesda Home in Webster until her retirement in the early 1980s. In 1981, the couple moved to Webster. Mr. Kuecker passed away in 1996. She entered Bethesda Home in Webster in January 1997 and she has resided there since. She was a member of the United Methodist Church in Webster where she was active in and held officer positions in the United Methodist Women. She was a member of the United Methodist Circles and served on the church council. She was an involved member of the Peabody Nursing Alumni and was a loyal fan and supporter of the Webster Bearcats. Survivors include a daughter-in-law, Amy Kuecker of Webster, S.D.; four grandchildren, Steven, Alyssa and Landon Kuecker, all of Webster, S.D., and Emily Kuecker at SDSU in Brookings, S.D.; one brother, Milbert (Ramona) Voegele of Watertown, S.D.; and two sisters, Martha Jeschke of Hosmer, S.D., and Ramona (Harold) Markuson of Ipswich, S.D. She was preceded in death by her husband, one son, Richard, and two sisters, Lenora Brugman and Adelida Lassle.
