Published by Legacy Remembers on Mar. 28, 2025.
Ellen Pendleton Jeanne Richards Ellen Jeanne Richards, former resident of Pendleton, Indiana and 1966 graduate of Pendleton High School was given the peace she longed for on Saturday July 20,2024. Ellen was born on April 5,1948 to the late John and Esther(Waggoner)Haner in Chicago,Illinois. She was raised in Pendleton, Indiana. Ellen married the love of her life Jimmie Ernest Richards and the couple relocated to Wichita Falls, Texas. They raised two children, James and Tamara. She was later blessed with her "favorite granddaughter" and "favorite grandson" Courtney and Tanner as well as a great-granddaughter Ava Simmons. The happiest times in Ellen's life were the 48 years they spent together until the untimely passing of Jim on March 23,2016. She worked for General Motors for many years until her retirement in 2006. Ellen's husband, children, grandchildren, and fur-babies gave her the greatest joy in life. Her grandchildren shared a few of their special memories which include beanie baby hunting, feeding her birds, and making sure dinner was ready for their Papaw. Among those memories, a trip to Italy to watch her granddaughter play soccer for the USA junior Olympic team is also included. Ellen never missed a birthday card or an Easter basket. Caring for her loved ones in that capacity was definitely how she demonstrated her love. Ellen is survived by her children, James Richards and Tamara Simmons and husband Ricky, granddaughter Courtney McKenzie and husband Joel, grandson Tanner Simmons, and great-granddaughter Ava Simmons as well as siblings Charles Haner and wife Joan, Gail Bottorff, Leslie Baker and husband,Lou, and Lisa Haner Celik and husband Kemal. The family will be gathering for graveside burial and celebration of both Jim and Ellen's life Saturday April 5,2025 at 1100 at Mendon Cemetery in Pendleton. Reception following.
