Emil LASKIWSKI Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on Oct. 18, 2017.
LASKIWSKI, Emil
May 16, 1931 – October 12, 2017
It is with heavy heart and profound sadness that the family announce the passing of Emil Laskiwski on Thursday, October 12, 2017, at the age of 86 years. Your wife, Olga (nee Elkow) and daughter, Sharon (Jamiel Hamdon) shall forever cherish our journey of life together, and hold very dear to us your love and devotion as a husband and father. Our family, close friends and neighbors will remember your loyalty, generosity, authenticity, committed work ethic, recreational passions of fishing, hunting and camping, supporting family gatherings to no avail and even your sense of humor and practical jokes. We are all so proud of what you stood for and accomplished in your life. As your wife, you are my love, soulmate and best friend, and life without you will never be the same. As your daughter, you are the best father a daughter could ever possibly have, and I shall wait with open arms to see you in heaven.
Survived by sisters, Olivia Belcourt, Alice (Alec Wilson) and Sylvia Chalmers. Predeceased by parents, Anna and Nick Laskiwski; and sister, Victoria Rhoades.
Our family would like to extend a special thank you to the healthcare providers at the Royal Alexandra Hospital Nursing Units 51 and 52, who helped extend Emil's life as long as humanly and medically possible: Dr. Sherri John and Dr. Pattison-Bacon, the Nurse Managers, Registered Nurses, Licensed Practical Nurses and Nursing Attendants. The healthcare providers went above and beyond to provide exceptional care. Their compassion and sincere interest in the care and comfort for Emil was truly gratifying and appreciated.

My sincere condolences to Emil's family. Emil was a central figure with all of us that have a business by the potato plant on 170. I called him potato Emil for years. He was a friend to all in the area. We lost touch with each other when he retired.
Sorry for your loss.

Mrs. Laskiwski and Sharon.

We are so sorry to hear of the passing of Mr. Laskiwski.
Our thoughts and prayers are with you both during this time.
I remember the many times you spent with mom and dad (Ambrose & Olga Kuzyk) at their house with fond memories.
I remember Mr. Laskiwski as a kind, gentle man- sort of laid back yet absorbing everything. He always had that twinkle in his eyes and a beautiful smile.
Cherish the memories.

Our deepest condolences,
Eugene & Donna Shandro (nee Kuzyk)
Unfortunately, due to prior commitment, we will not be able to attend the service, but we will be thinking of you both.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of Emil. He was a great father to Sharon and to his wife Olga. He was also great with friends. Emil helped me get a garage opener in my garage when l bought my first home in Edmonton. He thought l paid too much for my house, but he loved donuts and was a great and loving man.
