Enid PEHOWICH Obituary

Published by Edmonton Journal on Aug. 5, 2015.
PEHOWICH, Enid Deborah
Our dear Enid passed away peacefully on Sunday, August 2, following a lengthy illness that she faced with courage and grace. During her life Enid blessed us all with her warm heart, her selfless friendship and her love of family.
A loving and inspirational mother and wife, she will be remembered always by her husband and best friend, Dan; daughter, Meghan Sebastianski and son-in-law, Tom. She will also be missed by her cousin, Alayne Stewart and husband, Clare. Enid leaves to mourn her loss her mother, Doreen Geary of Stratford, Ontario, from whom she drew tremendous strength during her illness; brother, Paul Geary; mother-in-law, Helen Pehowich; brothers-in-law, John (Laverne) Pehowich and Wayne (Patricia) Pehowich; nephews, David (Natalie) Pehowich, Nathan (Lisa) Pehowich, Jonathan (Heather) Pehowich, Tim (Amanda) Geary and their families; and nieces, Andrea (Rob) Geary and Leeanne Geary. She was predeceased by her father, Peter Geary, and brother, Dan.
Enid was loved and supported by a number of close friends, especially her long- running book club: Korey, Shannon, Alice, Janice, Gail, Dianne, Shirley and Liz; her curling mates Lisa and Carmen; her painting mentor Tracey; and her stitching friends, Donna, Ming and Juli. Through these friendships Enid developed her talent in painting and cross stitching and spent countless hours lovingly making Christmas stockings and heirloom quilts for new additions to the family. Finally, with the unfailing support of our lifetime friends, Lewis and Caroline Bartlett, Enid was able to travel to places she had always dreamed of before her final journey.
Born in Montreal, Enid obtained degrees from Acadia University and the University of Alberta after which she worked in several research groups at the U of A. Her skills, keen attention to detail and compassion to help others culminated in nearly thirty years of service to the university.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at St. Thomas More Catholic Church, 210 Haddow Close, Edmonton, on Monday, August 10, 2015 at 11 a.m. A private interment for family will follow. Memorial donations may be made to Enid's special charities: the Edmonton Christmas Bureau, the Salvation Army, or a charity of one's choice.

Dear Dan and family and Doreen,
I am so heartbroken to just recently learn of Enid's passing. I wish to convey my heartfelt condolences. Enid was a wonderful and true friend during highschool and university years. We lost touch for a while and then she visited me in Montreal and she was as beautiful and gracious as I had remembered. I am so very sorry for your loss.

Enid worked with me for a dozen years looking at the repair of injured nerves. Her scientific insight and technical expertise were only exceded by her personality of warmth, kindness and efficiency.
