Such a kind person and such a good scholar. I remember him first from the 1960s, when I was a child and he was hired to UCSB, and I was just a bystander but I knew immediately he was an important person to have met. Thinking of him now because I was looking up some of his work, for purely professional reasons, and the memories come so sharply.
