When other doctors said I may not be able to have children, i made an appt with Dr Eric Buffong. He was very patient and helpful. I gave birth to a girl in September 1987. She is wonderful with 2 small children of her own. I wanted a baby so badly and got her. Thanks to Dr Buffong. He was never anything but professional with me. So sorry for his families loss.

As I was sitting here Sir, you came across my mind. You was a wonderful spirited man, and a great physcian in my eyes. I was having trouble conceiving, and even though I didn't before leaving Camp Lejeune, the information you gave and procedures later on help us conceived. We have a 27 year old daughter and handsome grandson. Rest in Peace Sir

Ms. Buffong I remember you as being a beautiful vibrant light and spirit in the office. I heard several years ago of the passing of Dr. Buffong and your beautiful daughter.. I remember that your family was simply beautiful. This is now 2021.. I too was a patient of Dr. Buffong and was diagnosed with endometriosis.. However after my surgery about a couple of months later I received the news of my first conception deemed an absolute miracle and (14) months later gave birth again..!!!
Dr. Buffong was a Blessing for me and my family.. My son is now 33 years of age and my daughter is 32 delivered by Dr. Hayes.. I was reading an article this morning on endometriosis and it made me think about Dr. Buffong.. May your family continue to have peace as only God can provide and may my words make you smile. In memory of Dr. Buffong.

Today, I thought of you Dr. Buffong. I put in a google search and found this guest book. You were such a beautiful light. I pray that Nicole, Gabby and your wife are doing well. I know that they miss you and your beautiful daughter Alicia.
Thanks for teaching me and my twin sister what life could be like, to never give up and most of all, find the bright side of everything. You were such an awesome role model and friend to us.
Love Always!!!

I had the blessing of being treated by Dr. Buffong while stationed there with my marine husband, now deceased. He treated me for several years for primary and secondary pelvic inflammatory disease, endometriosis and ovarian cysts and chronic pain caused by same. He was brilliant! I have two adult children now, and every doctor that treated me after Dr. Buffong proclaimed both pregnancies as miracles. I completely agreed. He was truly the finest doctor that I've ever had and the greatest smile. He also delivered my nephew for his then partner, Dr. Hayes. My heart is broken that he is no longer with his family or here to offer more healing and hope. God bless! I will never forget him!

Where do I start? My summers in Jacksonville were always epic with my best friend. Although we lived thousands of miles apart, our friendship was solid. I will forever cherish the memory that I shared your last Christmas with you. We had a ball in Florida! My heart is still broken, this is one wound that time isn't healing. I keep your picture on my dresser so that I can still see you. I know that you , Uncle Eric amd granny are up there dancing away to Bob Marley like u did on Christmas 2005. I love you and miss u terribly Alicia. Forever best friends

Today is the first day in a long time, that I have had a chance to relax. Daddy and Alicia have been on my mind. They are never far from it! I found out today that one of Alicia's friends is having twins, a boy and a girl! I thought about how much Alicia would have wanted to meet them. So, I decided to google their names, and found this. I had no idea that this Guest Book was still going. Thank you so much Regina & Sidney. It gives me such great joy to know that Mommy, Gabby and I are not the only ones miss them so. Thank you all for your comments. Thank you.....

I am and will always be thankful for Dr Buffong and the differnce he made in my life. Because of my abusive pass it was his signature to always give me the biggest hug when I arrived for a visit and also when my visit was over.
So one morning around 6:15am after working all night i had fifteen more minutes left in my shift.I struggled to stay awake. Well in the last five minutes I dosed I saw Dr Buffong.
There was no smiles from him. There was no hugs. I began to cry. I woke up with tears in my eyes. My shift was over and I as I was walking to my car I asked God why Dr Buffong would Hug me and was not smiling and I heard a voice say because he dosent want to see you yet.
I was then behind the wheel of my car falling asleep. I immediately open my eyes and realized that he was warnig me. He is truly my guardian angel. I thank God for you!

Dear Dr. B:
When I arrived to your clinc in Jacksonville with tears in my eyes because I had just been diagnosed with breast cancer, you were there for me, told me "shop around, find a specialist" and saved my breast and my life. You gave me the best bear hug to calm me down and talked me not to give up. Thank you. I love you always my dear Doctor "B"

Dedicated to Dr. Eric Buffong
It’s been said by man to “give credit to whom credit is due.
So for my positive attitude on life, I give the credit to you.
You met a woman with the mind of a little girl
She was very afraid and struggling to survive in this world.
You taught her to take on life challenges and that her mistakes were not a sin.
The key to success was to learn from them so she won’t make the same mistakes again.
You told her of wonderful things she should expect to encounter life and she would say no. Not me.
You would always smile and say “yes. You just have to grow up mentally.”
After many bumps, bruises, and tears her attitude began to change.
Like a caterpillar wrapped in a cocoon for many years
She finally broke free and a woman she became
I will always acknowledge you and forever be grateful for your love of life
And dedication to educate black women to be all they can be.
Your unselfish deeds will not be forgotten
Your dear friend
Theresa

The Heights by great men reached and kept were not attained by sudden flight, but they while their companions slept, were toiling upwards through the night..
I met Dr. "B", and it was a great releif for me that this Black Male, understood the we should always strive for excellence. Apart from my mother, he was the only person in my life that pushed me to find that "BEST" in me, without any attachment. He expected nothing back.
I greive for his wife and his children and the rest of that large family that he embraced all over the world, of which I am a part.
There is no one that I have lost, that have left such an impact on my life, he was truly the brother that I never had..much, much more than an employer to me,,,He was family as we in the West Indies know family to be. We love them when they are good but we love care and help them even more when they are not as good...THAT WAS DR. "B"

Dear Mrs. Buffong and family,
I want to extend my deepest sympathy to you. I just recently discovered that my friend of 30 years is with the lord. However, the loss of a child and a husband is unbearable. I wish the very best for the 3 girls. Please always remember his smile and caring ways will remain with you forever. I will always think of how much he loved music, how he loved singing and dancing.
My friend Eric I will miss you and I look forward to seeing you again.

To the Buffong Family,
Just want to express my sympathy.
I myself have just lost someone very close to me and until it happens to you, you have no idea what others have and are going through. I know the pain doesn't just stop even months later the pain is still there, but the lord gives comfort and peace to those who trust in him. He is helping me and i know he will continue to help and guide you day by day to help ease the hurt you are feeling with every thought, and memory. I was very hurt and in disbelief when i got the news about dr.Buffong and my baby alicia. Her smiling face, and her happy, and playful presence will be forever missed. She was a joy to be around at school. Although a few years older than her, I had a chance to get well aquainted with her from singing next to her in the gospel choir, as well has her helping us flag girls in the Marching Band. Alicia had a very beautiful Spirit that touched so many lives, and I will always remember her being that free spirited, loving and caring person. Alicia aka(Smiley) You Will Forever Be Loved & Missed, and to Nicole stay strong as you have always been and know that God will not put more on us than we can bare, just keep your faith in him and everything is and will be alright. You are all still in my thoughts and prayers.

I was just going through some old photographs. I ran across a picture of Dr. Buffong and my first born, Ambria Nicole (he delivered her on 02/14/1992). I deceided to look up Dr. Buffong to see how he was doing. I am very upset to find that he has passed away. My condolences to his family. He was a wonderful man. He made me smile...if it weren't for him, my husband and I would not have been able to conceive. We now have 3 beautiful children. Thank you Doctor...you will be remembered.

To my second family,
I apologize that I am writing this entry so late but I just stumbled across the guestbook tonight. First of all I want you all to know that I am very sorry for the loss of Lici and Dr. B. You all have truely been a family to me since the day that I met Nicole in kindergarten. God could not have picked a more special family to come into my life. Mrs. B you welcomed me into your home and you were so loving and understanding. Dr. B was like my other father always reminding me to put my coat on and teaching me important lifelong lessons. Gabby you and Alicia were the two baby sisters I never had and you made times at Country Club so much fun! Nicole wow from kindergarten till the rest of my life we will be best friends. You have such an amazing presence and spunk for life, I love you and you are not only my best friend but my sister! It was your family that watched me grow from a kindergarten child to a woman with a family of my own. I was so excited for Alicia and Dr. B to see Laila for the first time, then I thought they will never get a chance to see her now; but I know that they have seen her and they are watching over her and I everyday.
The loss that your family has experienced is beyond words no words can be shared to soothe your pain but please find peace in knowing that they are with our Lord and saviour and they are watching over us everyday. I know it is Dr. B reminding me "It's cold outside girl go get your jacket" and it's Alicia telling me "you are so greedy Lo stop eating all that Jamoca Almond Fudge". I miss everything about the both of them but it is special memories like those that make me smile. I will forever miss the two of them and please know that each of you are in my prayers.
I love you so much, be blessed your always in my thoughts and prayers,
Loreal

My Dear Gail,
It is with sincere thoughts and wishes that I entrust your well-being beyond the loss of your husband, my friend, Dr. Buffong, and your loving daughter, Alicia.
Dr. Buffong crossed my thoughts last evening as I reminisced about the many conversations/debates we shared during our days chairing the Columbus Black Chamber of Commerce. Our conversations (mostly debates) always ended with his signature “ThankYou VeryMuuuch… which usually meant he acknowledged that you finally understand or accept that what he was trying to get you to see, you got. He would then laugh and flash his signature Dr. Buffong smile, which assured you he was never wrong, because he knew what he was talking about.
As I remember his personality, see his laugh, and hear that very, very confident, ThankYou VeryMuuuch… I know that the wisdom he was so quick to share, and his teachings, will forever sustain the memories that I, and everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him, will cherish forever.
Just know Gail, that your husband Lives on and Lives strong, with your daughter, Alicia, right by his side, to keep him in line.
With very sincere regards to you and your family, I remain,
Shaun Hill

I remember Dr. Buffong from my tenure at the National Medical Association, where he served on the Board of Directors. He was passionate about life, medicine and his patients. He possessed a zest for life that was unrivaled. May God continue to bless and sustain you and grant you the zest to carry on Dr. Buffong's legacy and to live your life to its fullest. In God's Holy Name.

Hi to All of Dr. Buffong's family. I am so grateful that this has been established so that the many people who care so much about him could say "Thanks" and give our condolences. Eric Buffong was a loving and caring Dr. and as you can see he was loved by many people all around. Dr. Buffong also saved my life when I was nearly three months pregnant (in my tubes). He performed emergency surgery and cared for me in a way that was so comforting. I felt like he was my dad looking out for me. His Dr.'s office was closed on Saturday but he was there all because of me. What a caring Dr. I was very young and afraid but he was a blessing to my husband and me who didn't fully understand what was going on. Dr. Buffong was suppose to go on vacation the day that he found my condition. He found it by caring enough to review my records and make sure things were o.k. He delayed his vacation for me. I haven't had any complications from the surgery. I have lived a better life because of him. My heart breaks to know he and his daughter are gone. Dr. Eric A. Buffong was a wonderful physician and friend and we all are grieved at your loss and will remember him for all that he has contributed to the medical community and to the human race. Be blessed and no that God and time will help to fill the void. Thank you for being strong and for supporting Dr. Buffong because beside every good man there must be a good woman.
With Love,
Raphaella McCrary

Mrs Buffong and family, I offer my sincere condolences for the loss of your loved ones. I worked as Dr. B's nurse for a short period while stationed at Ft. Benning. Never before in my career had I seen a Dr loved more by his patients than Dr. B. I have always admired the relationship shared by he and Alicia. They will both be missed. Find comfort and peace in knowing that they are resting in the arms of Jesus.

Dr. Buffong saved my life in July, 2003. After suffering from Fibromyalgia along with other health issues and grieving from the death of my husband whom I lost in April 2000, my health had gotten at its worse. Dr. Buffong told me that I had to live, my girls had lost their father and they needed me. Dr. Buffong referred me to the appropriate physicians who helped stabilize my health along with the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. I would have to say that I am alive today because of the intelligence and caring heart God gave Dr. Eric Buffong. Alicia, his daughter, was such a supporter of her father, as she worked beside him in the office. They both will be truly missed by my girls and myself as they are remembered in our hearts.
We would like to give our condolences to the entire Buffong family. You all will stay in our prayers as you have through all that you've already been through. Stay strong and know that you are loved.

Dr.Eric Buffong saved my life five years ago-I wasn't even his patient but was referred to him one day in April and had been in pain for five years! In all that time not one of the numerous doctors I'd seen could tell me why but this Great Man spent an entire night pouring over my records and the next day a 45 min laproscope became a 9 1/2 hour surgery in which he practically rebuilt me from the inside out-even joking with my husband that "..it took TWO grapefruit juices!" to sustain him! But that was the dedicated man he was-one who persevered where others would not;one who cared;studious and kind-what a tragic loss to his family, this world and the entire medical profession! If you knew him at all you were Blessed! Alicia and her daddy will rest in peace-in Heaven and God Bless the loved ones they left behind. Thank you for bringing him to Columbus,Georgia and for encouraging him in his work. You will all stay in my prayers forever.

Your family is in my heart, my thoughts, and my prayers. Your husband was truly amazing as a person and as a physician. If it were not for your husband and his extensive knowledge of his profession, I would not have Adriyana Geneise, he was my miracle. Alicia and he will truly be missed. In My Pocket
I have memories in my pocket.
They rattle among the change.
My memories of you are treasures I carry wherever I go.
They are stored in bits and pieces, parts of a beautiful whole
They give me comfort when I think I am alone.
Yes, I have memories in my pocket, like so much other stuff I keep there.
But of all the treasures I have, it’s the memories of you that are the most precious.

Dear Mrs. Buffong and family, my thoughts and prayers are with you in your time of grief. May your memories bring you comfort.
I worked with Dr.Buffong in Surgery, at Drs Hospital for about 3 years, I scrubbed with him twice a week, and got to know him very well. Every morning he would greet me with "good morning madam". He introduced me to "his kind of music", which was great! He taught me alot about Laprascopic Surgeries, and always answered any questions I would have. There were so many stories he told us about his life, friends, and family, and I will never forget them. I will always remember Dr. Buffong as outgoing and happy, and nothing else. He will be missed my many.

When no one else in Columbus could diagnose my pain, Dr. Buffong did. Thank you for being a great doctor with lots of knowledge. Your knowledge and kindness will be missed greatly. May God continue to be with the Buffong family during this homecoming of Alicia and Dr. Eric Buffong. You can rest now Dr. Buffong.
Ezekiel 3:12 Then the spirit took me up, and I heard behind me a voice of a great rushing, saying, Blessed be the glory of the LORD from his place.
