LEISTER
Ernest Lee "Ernie" Leister, Jr, of San Antonio, TX died on Tuesday, April 20, 2010, at the age of 67. He was born on January 24 in Yoakum, TX. He was an employee of the San Antonio Zoo as a Train Conductor. He was a faithful and loving servant of the Lord Jesus Christ. Ernie recently departed to be with Jesus in Heaven. Those who were blessed to know Ernie will never forget his uncanny ability to light up a room with conversation as well as his enormous heart and he was always open to any person in need. He was a genuinely nice, moral and inspirational man. To make Ernie happy was not to send him on an exotic vacation nor bestow him with material gifts. Instead, the only way to make Ernie really smile was to place him in the midst of his loved ones. There is nothing that warmed his heart more than to know that everyone was happy and doing well in life. Ernie spared no expense in being there for his children. He was the ideal, godly father who listened, doled out good advice and encouraged with fatherly love. If only one word could be chosen to best describe Ernie, it would be "friend". Ernie was a man who turned down no one in need. Ernie truly knew his holy calling in life, which was to lift people's spirits. Ernie was a friend of God and men. Ernie enjoyed an array of hobbies and interests ranging from sports, travel and boating, to reading and relaxing. He is survived by his wife, Cherie Eastman Leister:his children, Lee Anne Leister Gravely, son David Ferol Leister, daughter-in-law Carlete Lima Leister: sister Jeanette Blankenship: aunt Ruth Steen: and grandchildren, Sumner Gravely, Dave Gravely and Sarah Leister.

I have just now heard of Ernie's homecoming. I am shocked and deeply saddened. I regret I was not there to lend my support and blessings on Saturday. Please know you are all in my thoughts and prayers. May God lay His healing hand on your heavy hearts and ease your great burden. I will miss him terribly.
With Love,

David and LeeAnn and Family
My heart goes out to you and your families. I can hear Ernie laugh, he
was always there, ready to listen, and so full of life and fun. I have no doubt Bill Quirk has him on a sailboat,or fishin and huntin again.
I was blessed by his friendship and love. You are in my prayers and heart.
