WEST COLUMBIA: Services for Essie Hallman Roland, 86, will be held 11 a.m. Thursday, January 4, 2007 in the Chapel of Hope Mausoleum at Southland Memorial Gardens, with entombment to follow. Officiating will be Rev. Dr. Donald F. West. The family will receive friends in the mausoleum after the service. Thompson Funeral Home of West Columbia will be handling the arrangements. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to Pineview Baptist Church, 3010 Leaphart Road, West Columbia, SC 29169.

Mrs. Roland, widow of Robert Lewis Roland passed away on Tuesday, January 02, 2007. Born in Lexington, SC, she was the daughter of the late Drayton Crosson and Bela Snelgrove Hallman. She was an area resident since 1936 and a member of Pineview Baptist Church. She retired from Loxscreen after many years of service.

Surviving are her son and daughter-in-law, Kent and Martha Roland of West Columbia; sister, Patricia “Pat” McKissick of Florence; two grandchildren Amari Paulovic and husband, Gideon of West Columbia; Jason Roland and wife, Dawn of Lexington; six great grandchildren. Mrs. Roland was preceded in death by four sisters Bertha Mae Rawl, Louise H. Roland, Mary Alberta Hallman, Annie Pearl Hallman; and three brothers, Haskell Hallman, James “Jim” Hallman, and Ed Hallman.
