Eugene Ormiston Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers from Sep. 4 to Sep. 13, 2023.
Eugene Franklin Ormiston, known affectionately as Gene or Sonny, passed away on August 20, 2023, in Llano, Texas, his hometown where he was born on March 5, 1946. Gene fought a short but courageous battle with brain cancer, demonstrating the same strength and determination he had shown throughout his life. He exited this world the same way he lived his life, on his own terms.

Gene was a beloved family man, survived by his children Patricia George and Curtis Ormiston, son-in-law Thomas George, daughter-in-law Katie Ormiston, his niece Sharmae Brown, his granddaughter Briana Ormiston, his grandsons, William Ormiston, John George, and Charlie George. He was predeceased in death by his wife Margaret Ormiston, parents Raymond Eugene and Zula Mae Ormiston, his sister, Elva Ann Thompson, his nephew Michael Thompson, and many near and dear friends. Each family member and friend will remember him fondly for his kindness, generosity, and friendly nature as Gene never knew a stranger.

Gene asked that in lieu of flowers or a note of sympathy to please donate to either St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the American Cancer Society. Per Gene's wishes, instead of a funeral, the family will have a celebration of life later this year and honor one of Gene's long-standing sayings, "don't bury me in the ground and don't cry when I'm gone...get a keg and let everyone have a drink one last time on Gene!"

We all will see you with rod in hand on the riverbanks and bays of Heaven!
