Eunice Ione Johannes, 88, passed away October 26, 2024. Born on August 23, 1936, Eunice spent 63 years as a resident of Bloomington, MN, where she cherished living in the house she had built and raised her children.

She was born in Sinai, SD, to Oscar and Minnie Nelson and was raised in Arlington, SD, graduating from Arlington High School in 1954. She moved to Minneapolis to attend business school and began her career in the secretarial field, eventually becoming an emergency dispatcher for the Minneapolis-St. Paul Airport Police Department, retiring after 22 years of dedicated service.

Eunice was a member of St. Stephen's Lutheran Church in Bloomington since its founding in 1961, where she formed lasting bonds with her church family. She was deeply involved in her community, known for her love of knitting and creating beautiful gifts for friends and family. Eunice was also and avid sports fan and enjoyed watching her grandchildren's hockey games and was always their biggest fan.

She is survived by her three children: Jeffrey (Linda) Johannes, Mark (Linda) Johannes, and Cheryl (Kirk) Ober; five grandchildren: Jason (Molly) Johannes, Emily (Taylor) Davis, Nathan Johannes, Jenna Ober and Grant Ober; and three great-grandchildren: Elliott, Wyatt and Bennett Johannes. Eunice also leaves behind her nieces Diane (Jim) Kadechka and Carol (Jim) Nagy. She was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Minnie Nelson; brothers and sisters-in-law, Wally and Mary Ann Nelson, and Randy and Lee Nelson; niece Debbie Nelson; and nephews Philip, Matthew, Rodger, Rodney and David Nelson.

A service to honor Eunice's life will be held on Wednesday, November 27, 2024, at 11:00 am at St. Stephen's Lutheran Church, with visitation beginning one hour prior. A luncheon will follow the service. Memorials in Eunice's honor are preferred to St. Stephen Lutheran Church, 8400 France Avenue, Bloomington, MN 55437.
