Eva Nell Crews, 91, formerly of Kevil, Kentucky, passed away, on Thursday, September 5, 2013, at the Catherine Kasper Home, in Donaldson, Indiana. Mrs. Crews was born in, McCracken County in western Kentucky, and lived there for most of her life. She graduated from Heath High School, in 1938, at the young age of 16. Several years later, she met the love of her life, James Alfred Crews, and they married in 1943. She was a devoted mother to their son, a longtime member of the McCracken County Homemakers, and a lifelong member of Newton Creek Baptist Church. She also worked as a bookkeeper for 13 years. In retirement, she and her husband, Alfred, enjoyed bus trips across the country, visiting their grandchildren, and playing Rook with friends and family. Eva was known for her exuberant laughter, her wonderful desserts, and her love of all things blue. Eva is survived by her son, James Don (Margaret) Crews of Plymouth; three granddaughters, Julie Crews Barger (Scott) of Plymouth, Toni Christine Crews (Matt Miller) of Plymouth, and Kelsey Louise Witt (Mike) of Santa Barbara, California; four great-grandsons, Holden Kadlec, Graham Barger, Miles Barger, and Reid Barger; and several nieces and nephews who were near and dear to her heart. She is also survived by a special cousin, Louise Cunningham. She was preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, James Alfred Crews; her parents, James Monroe Long and Ollie Frances Long; four sisters; and three brothers.
