Eva V. Loomis

Eva V. Loomis, 96, of N. Pearl St., North East, Pa., and formerly of Corry, died Thursday, February 14, 2019, at Twinbrook Medical Center, Erie, Pa.

She was born April 6, 1922 in Kane, Pa., a daughter of the late Carmen and Margaret Policastro Valletti.

As a young girl, Eva moved with her family to Corry where she was raised and educated. After graduation from Corry High School in 1940, she worked as a secretary for the Superintendent of Corry Schools. She later worked at the Kurtz Furniture Company and then for three years at the Aero Supply Company.

Eva enjoyed crocheting, reading and working in her flower gardens.

In addition to her parents, Eva was preceded in death September 1, 1998, by her husband, Allen L. Loomis Sr., whom she married February 9, 1946 in Corry, Pa.; three sisters, Julia Wojcicehowski, Josephine Harvey and Rose Evelyn Valletti; a brother George Valletti; and a grandson Michael Firestone.

Eva is survived by two daughters, Margaret "Peggy" Counasse of North East, Pa., and Jean Halsey and her husband Laverne of Kinston, N. C.; and four sons, Allen Loomis Jr and his wife Patricia of Carlisle, Pa., Larry Loomis of North East, Pa., Ronald Loomis and his wife Kathy of McKean, Pa., and Carl Loomis of North East, Pa.

She is also survived by 23 grandchildren, 35 great-grandchildren; many great great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to call at the North East Alliance Church, 81 E. Main Street, North East, Pa., on Monday from 10 am until the time of the funeral service there at 11 am. Rev. Marvin Hutchinson will officiate.

Burial will be in Lawn Cemetery, Beaverdam, Pa.
