Evan Charles Peterson was born September 23, 1989 and died unexpectedly on Monday, August 25, 2014. Born and raised in Union, IL he enjoyed BMX biking, yoga and playing the drums. Evan had an endearing sense of adventure, humor and loved being with his family and friends. Evan graduated from Marengo High School, Marengo, IL class of 2008. He worked alongside his father at the bakery in Hoffman Estates, IL. An avid outdoorsman, Evan recently returned to Illinois after spending time hiking, camping and fishing with his brother who resides in Gilbert, AZ.
Evan is survived by his grandmother Audrey Hardt; parents: Warren and Diane Peterson; brother Nathan Peterson; sisters: Audrey Peterson, Crystal Sofie and Caitlin Peterson. Evan was an uncle to nephews Andrew Sofie and Jacob Sofie, niece Aurora Peterson and the newest nephew Declan Peterson who arrived Tuesday, August 26th. Evan has many aunts, uncles, cousins, family and friends who will all miss him dearly.

To celebrate the life of Evan Peterson, there will be a gathering of family and friends with a short sermon on Friday, August 29th beginning at 5 pm until 7 pm at St. John's Lutheran Church, 6821 Main St. Union, IL. 60180.

I am so sorry for this great loss and I send prayers up to bring peace to your family. Evan was a regular at my yoga studio and was hands down the most naturally gifted yogi that I've ever had the pleasure of teaching. He was a tremendous inspiration to everyone who crossed his path, both inside and outside of the studio. He was a valued member of our community and he will be greatly missed. May he rest in peace.

Evan was our Yogi at the studio in Phoenix...he walked in one hot summer day and wanted to sign-up. He was a natural in his practice, his conversations and his philosophic mannerisms. Evan was one of my best friends. I've known him since high school, we've been in two or three bands together, used to hang out all the time, we drank together, went to each other's family parties, and for a while were looking for an apartment to be roommates. I remember all the late night mcdonalds runs, working with him in the bakery making cinnamon twists and Danish, band practice every other day in his basement, bonfires in his backyard, trips to chestnut to snowboard, and hanging out in Clasens. When I heard the news, I was heartbroken and at a loss for words. There were no words to describe the heartache I felt knowing that one of my best friends was gone. Evan will be missed by ALL that knew him, and he has touched the lives of so many people. He most definitely is in a better place, but I am overcome with sadness that he left us so soon. My heart goes out to Warren, Diane, Nathan, Audrey, Crystal, and Kaitlin. I love you all and you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Evan, I love you bro. You'll be on my mind and in my heart forever. We'll all miss you.

With pain in my heart I let a good friend go. In this case it's the painful truth that the good die young. God knows he kept me out of trouble through the years. Though time may change a lot, it can not change that he will be missed, or change the marks he has left on peoples lives.
