Evelina Miranda Venturo, 100, of Tucson, Arizona, passed away on January 24, 2024, in Tucson. She was born on April 2, 1923, in Tucson, Arizona. Evelina graduated from Tucson High School and attended St. Joseph's Nursing School.

Evelina is survived by her loving daughters, Donna Whitman (Frank Valenzuela), Diana Whitman; and grandsons Alejandro Alcantara (Lupita), Arturo Alcantara (Tara), Joseph Maciulla (Ayanna), and Gregory Maciulla ( Sarah). She is also survived by three great-grandchildren (Osiris, Santana and Aliyah) and numerous nieces and nephews. Evelina was preceded in death by husband Robert Venturo; by parents, Alfredo and Patrocinia Miranda, her sisters, Delicia Reynolds , Elva Treyz, Sophia Lizarraga and Norma Perry.

"Evie" was a woman before her time- always tastefully dressed and coiffed and worked in women's healthcare until age 88. She was a valuable employee of Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona. She volunteered for several community organizations such as, Tucson Mexico Sister Cities, Los Descendientes de Tucson, Pima County Correctional Volunteer Center and as board member of Southern Arizona Women's Foundation. She loved reading, national politics, and thoroughly enjoyed celebratory tequila shots with her grandsons.

As a strong supporter of women's rights, donations may be made to Planned Parenthood of Southern Arizona.

I very sorry, I am sure it has been a big loss for all the family. I worked with her at Planned Parenthood for 10 years she was much more then just a co-worked, I was able to learn so much from her she was a ray of sunshine in my life. I was so lucky to have met her. She was a true friend and forever in my heart. God bless you all.

I am so sorry to read of Evelina's passing. I have so many joyous memories of her, her smile, and the sound of her laughter. She was always so kind and generous towards my mother and sister. I send my loving prayers to all of her family. She truly was one very special lady.
