Everette E. Snodgrass, 81, Geneseo, died Monday, Nov. 25, 2002, at his home.
Services will be 10:30 a.m. Saturday at Grace United Methodist Church, Geneseo. The Rev. David Myers will officiate. Burial will be in Oakwood Cemetery, Geneseo, where military services will be performed by Geneseo American Legion.
Visitation is 6-9 p.m. Friday at Wright Chapel, Stackhouse-Moore Funeral Services, Geneseo. There also will be Masonic services 8:30 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Everette Snodgrass was born May 13, 1921, in Dayton Corners, the son of Frank and Lydia Mae (Clark) Snodgrass. On May 13, 1942, he married Dorothy Berry in Kahoka, Mo. She died Dec. 24, 1997. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, when he was chosen as "honor man of his company." He later worked for George Evans Corp. and then operated a truck company with Clyde Johnson in Geneseo. He then became the owner-operator of Everette Snodgrass Trucking & Asphalt Co., Geneseo, until retiring in 1977.
He was a member of Grace United Methodist Church, where he had served on several committees. Mr. Snodgrass also was a member of Stewart Lodge 92 A.F. & A.M., Geneseo; Moline Consistory; Shriners, Tucson, Ariz.; Geneseo American Legion Post 350; Geneseo Moose Lodge 990; and Geneseo Country Club. He enjoyed golfing and hunting.
Memorials may be made to Grace Church Building Fund or Geneseo School Facility Enhancement Foundation.
He is survived by a daughter and son-in-law, Cynthia and Bill Gruber, Seattle, Wash.; son and daughter-in-law, Barry and Lorrie Snodgrass, Geneseo; grandchildren, Eric Snodgrass, Atkinson, Beth and Drew Hallock, North Bend, Wash., Scott and Jessica Snodgrass, Twentynine Palms, Calif., Joe and Jill Snodgrass, Bettendorf, Mitch and Heather Gruber, San Diego, Calif., Sarah and Nigel Steere, Seattle, Wash., Jessica Gruber, Iksan, South Korea, and Hilary and Ashley Snodgrass, Geneseo; seven great- grandchildren, Mark Snodgrass, Stuart Hallock, Hayli Hallock, Gabriel Snodgrass, Jacob Snodgrass, Max Gruber and Ian Snodgrass; a sister, Virginia Franks, Geneseo; and a special family member, Julie.
He was preceded in death by his wife; a son, Jeffrey; two brothers, Wilbur and Short; and a daughter-in-law, Janis.
