Brick - Ferdinando Iozzia, 91 of Brick, passed away peacefully on Easter Sunday, April 1, 2018

Fred, as he was known to most, was born in Santa Croce Camerina, Sicily, to Giovanna and Bartolo Iozzia in 1926. He came to the U.S. in 1948 and worked for many years as a tailor in New York City's fashion district. In 1951 he married the love of his life, Angela (Carbone). They raised three daughters in Hackensack, NJ before retiring to Toms River in 1992.

He is predeceased by his daughter Laura Iozzia, his wife of sixty five years, Angela, his parents, three brothers and a sister. He is survived by his daughters Janine Santaita and Gioia Ackerman, his grandchildren Amy Ackerman-Ruch, Amanda Barton (Bob), Michael Santaita and Anthony Santaita (Sara), his beloved great grandchildren Bryan and Jacob Ruch, Owen, Anna and Olivia Barton and Salvatore and Jase Santaita, and his sister Rosalia Ferraro, all of Toms River, as well as countless nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was the epitome of a family man, truly loved and respected by everyone that knew him. His pride in his Sicilian heritage was unwavering. He would invite you into his home, give you the shirt off his back and make you laugh while you were there. He was truly a wonderful man who leaves behind a wealth of cherished memories and stories that will keep his loved ones smiling and laughing forever. To say he will be missed is an understatement. Rest in peace, we love you.

Visiting will be Wednesday 2-4 & 7-9pm at the Silverton Memorial Funeral Home 2482 Church Rd., Toms River. A Mass of Christian Burial will be Thursday 9:30am at St. Justin's RC Church, arrive at the funeral home 8:30am. Entombment will follow at Ocean County Memorial Park. www.silvertonmemorial.com.
