Fernando E. Baez, affectionately known as Macho Potorron, passed away on July 18, 2024, in Boston, MA, at the age of 73. Born on August 2, 1950, in Baní, Boca Canasta, Dominican Republic, Fernando was a dedicated husband, father, and friend who brought laughter and joy to those around him.

Fernando immigrated to the United States in the early 1980s, seeking a brighter future for his family. He worked diligently as a machine operator at Signal Industries in South Boston and later contributed his skills to the janitorial industry. Despite the demands of his jobs, he always found time to make his family and friends laugh with his jokes and captivating stories about his childhood.

He cherished his moments with family and made frequent visits to his homeland, the Dominican Republic, imbuing his children with love for their cultural heritage. Fernando's life was a testament to the power of humor, hard work, and familial devotion.

Fernando is survived by his loving wife, Juana Medina of Dorchester, MA; his children, Suiky and his husband John Pena of Pembroke Pines, FL; Onoris and her partner of Roslindale, MA; Fernanda of Cambridge, MA; Cesar of Everett, MA; and Anulfo of Medford, MA. He was a proud grandfather to nine grandchildren. His sister, Lucia Elvira Báez of Boston, MA, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins also survive him. He was preceded in death by his parents, Caye (Cayetano) Baez and Dolida Soto, and his brothers, Jaime, Osiris, and Luis Freddy.

Casper Funeral Services in South Boston, Massachusetts, will assist the family with a memorial service scheduled for July 24, 2024, from 5:00pm to 8:00pm at Casper Funeral Home. Fernando's life and legacy will be honored and remembered by all who knew him.
