Floyd Curry Obituary

Published by Legacy Remembers on Sep. 18, 2006.
OBITUARY FLOYD JAMES CURRY Peacefully on September 16 at Maimonides Geriatric Center. Beloved husband for sixty-one wonderful years of June. Devoted father of Dawn (Ricky) and Candace. Cherished "#1 Gramps" of Melissa, Matthew, Megan, and Christopher and great-Gramps of Noah and Abby. After his family Floyd's most profound love was for the game of hockey for which he was fortunate enough to devote his entire career to. He proudly played professional hockey for eleven years for the Montreal Canadiens. When his playing career was over he stepped behind the bench for several years to coach. He then moved on to work for the Canadiens behind the scenes in advertising and management, where he was employed for forty-four years until his retirement. Our deepest and sincerest thanks to the kind and caring staff on 3N and a very special thanks to Ramen for his exceptional nursing care and compassion. As per Floyd's wishes there will be no funeral service. Anyone wishing to make a donation in his name may do so to the Alzheimer Society with the sincere thanks of the family. Words cannot convey how special, kind, and generous a man he was. He is irreplacable and will be forever missed but never forgotten by all who knew and loved him.

Dear June, Dawn, Candy,

It has been so long since we have had any contact but I have thought of you all so many times over the years. It is so sad to have to get in touch at such a sorrowful time but I just wanted you to know that our thoughts are with you all at this time. My mother passed away in February of 2004 at the age of 94 and she, too, suffered from Alzheimer’s disease. She so often asked if I ever heard anything about any of you and unfortunately I always had to say no. She had so many fond memories of visits with you and especially evenings on the patios with yourselves and the Pincks. I just celebrated my 41st wedding anniversary, have four children and just became a grandmother to a beautiful baby girl in July. I would love to hear from you and hear about your family. Again, our sincere condolences to you all. Floyd would have been so honoured to read all the wonderful tributes to him.

Love
Linda Williams (Coburn)

Aunt June, Candy, Dawn and family.

It's with great sadiness to hear of the passing of uncle Floyd. He was a great man and he always reminded me so much of great grandpa Curry. I will always treasure the brief moments I had with him discussing hockey over the years (in Kirkland Lake, Montreal and in Mississauga) and getting signed hockey sticks from the Montreal Canadiens.

Uncle Floyd wil always be in our hearts and will never be forgotten.

Sincerely with love from the Harrison Family,

Norm Harrison

I was so sorry to hear about Floyd's passing. I think about him often and his name comes up all the time in conversations. I remember the times we met in Kirkland at Grandma Mable's.

My sympathy to June and the entire Curry family. Although I never had the pleasure of meeting Floyd I had the opportunity to talk to him several times. As a Canadiens fan from Lancaster, Pa. I would come up to Montreal to catch several games every few years. A mutual friend, the late Kenny Smith, with whom Floyd played junior hockey, put me in contact with Floyd. He was never too busy to talk hockey, always saw to it that we secured good seats for the games and was such a wonderful & good-natured person. May he rest in Peace and may your faith and good memories sustain your family in this time of grief.
